If a musafir is at masjid can he lead the jamaat, which consists of musafirs and non musafirs....i.e local people....or should the masjid imaam lead the jamaat....and the musafirs read normal not kasr.......any brother or sister with any answers.....jazakallah

Yes, he can lead the jamaat. E.g. For Zuhr, he will read 2 rakaats and after salaam will announce that he is a musafir and instruct the muqeems (residents) to complete two more rakaats. However, in them two rakats the muqeems should not read surah fatiha (rather they should stay standing for as long as it takes to read surah fatiha).

Ok teek hai, but didnt you mean let them know before he starts the namaaz not after hes done salaam coz everyones gona be confused like....wots going on...........but dont you think there will be many people in the jamaat who dnt know not to read fatiha in the last two rakats they read on they own.........or dnt even know that after the musafir imaam does salaam they have to get up and complete they namaaz,,.......or not know nething about kasr and think y has the imaam read 2 wen he was supposed to read 4............shouldnt all this be taken in consideration by the musafir imaam...........and shouldnt he let the local imaam lead the jamaat and join in and read normal namaaz............to avoid confusion for people less learnerd than them./...............

Yes he should tell them before jamaat about the procedures to read the salaah but for the late comers he should tell after salaam aswell. People should learn the method of reading behind a musafir and their own ignorance is their own fault. Also- depending on who is chosen to lead the jamaat- the muqeem imam or the musafir imam, the people will read accordingly. Reading behind both imams will give the same sawaab.
