As salamu alaikum
The question is " How do i pass my time ? "
Ok before every one really start killing me for asking such question i would like to give you some background facts for asking this question. Ok basically i wasnt a good Muslim ( its better to say i was a hypocrite ). But whatever the reason due to something (which usually causes people to go bad) but in my case my imaan came back ( mashallah ). So i am trying very hard to be a good muslim. You see i make game designs for my earning( i used to make). But after learning that drawing animate object is haram i decided to stop it. And yes it will ruin my money earning opportunity, but i dont care anymore about moneys though game design brings lots of money. But i believe its better to have less money with Allahs blessing on it rather than abundance of haraam wealth. And i used to love watching cartoons and play games. And i am trying to reduce everything one by one. I decided to stop playing games. And i am a hardcore gamer, even decided to buy PS3. So slowly i am kind of stopping all my recreational activities and thus the question. And a funny thing is even though i am stopping this habits which i used to enjoy , i dont have any regret i fell good instead. But i would like to know what other muslim do apart from praying. Which is a must and i am maintaining it. Thank you for being patient with my dum question.

It's not a silly question - it's probably the most important topic to be addressed by learned brothers and sisters for the sake of a whole generation of young Muslim adults. Let's see what they have to say, perhaps I can gather my thoughts after some opinions insha Allah...
(As for the matter of drawing - you have taken a very noble step, and I commend you for it. But drawing is not strictly haraam, but we'll leave that for another day!)
Muhammad is a man, unlike humankind,
Nay, truly! He is like a ruby amongst stones...

Wa alaikumsalam dearest brother,
I hope your well...
Theres soo many thins you can do in your spare time not everything is haram, in fact there is more halal than haram so dont think theres not much to do aside from praying. Remember its not about passing time its about making sure you spend every second of every day in the best way you possibly can. This doesnt mean you have to pray 24/7. Everything you do can be classed as worshipping Allah depending on the intention of what you do as long as its halal. Here are a few things which you can do an get rewarded for in shaa Allah.
Read books.
Listen to lectures.
Go to the gym.
Do some cooking and cleaning for the fambly.
Recite Quran and then add it to the "Quran Khathm" thread (or just recite Quran you dont have to add it on here). Or try and memorise the Quran.
Organise Islamic events.
Teach kids at the local masjid.
Help your parents.
Do some charity work.
I hope this helps.

Salaam Congrats n welcome back
kidding. We all have those moments when we do wrong, main thing is we remember Allah swt and ask for His forgiveness straight away. Insha'Allaah
Reciting Qur'an n plenty of DHIKHR will make you immune to all the haraam that's around you. Once you've built your spirit up. Do exercise so your body can keep up too. Remain healthy in mind n body as much as possible.
Playing games, socializing is a good thing because we need to release ourselves every now n then. It's called chill time. And our Prophet pbuh had chill moments to relax with his pbuh loved ones.
In this day n age what I would say to myself n any other Muslim is to get back to the basics and teach their loved ones the values you've learnt. Don't go extreme on your Deen. Start as you mean to go along. N slowly but surely cleanse your environment from all the rubbish that we are highly polluted with these days. We're all responsible and intelligent enough to do well.
Good luck Insha'Allaah keep up the good work

I pray that Allah make things easy for you.
You can use your free time to do so many things. It's very important to be not free and to keep oneself occupied.
Reading is one the best ways to keep oneself busy and learn as well. You can also start playing any sports, it keeps you busy and keeps you fit.
As Muslim, we're advised to keep ourselves busy because more free time you've , the more you're vulnerable to the tricks of the devil if you don't use the free time wisley.

Repentance is a strange mount -
it jumps towards heaven in a single moment from the lowest place

OK - I've come to a conclusion. I've concluded that you - dear brother - have a great blessing but at the same time you are at serious risk. The reason for both of these is one: free time. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “There are two blessings in which most people are in great loss: 1) Good health and 2) Free time.”
It is easy to understand why they are blessings, and - if you look at reality - you will also find out why they are dangerous if abused or neglected; there's a lot of truth in the old English saying, 'the devil makes work for idle thumbs'. I don't want to go into detail about that, but suffice it to say that keeping oneself occupied is extremely important, not only because if you don't, then Satan will mislead you, but also because it will be a great source if regret to look back at this period of your life and see it completely wasted. The pious people used to say, when they saw people idly sitting on the street, "Would that we could buy your free time off you!"
With that said, you need to set yourself some goals. I don't know how old you are brother, but these should relate to your immediate situation (ie. fixing up what isn't right) and planning towards your future (both this life and the afterlife). Also, plan your free time in accordance with the advice of the holy prophet (pbuh), who taught as that our body has rights over us, our family/relations/friends have rights over us, and our Lord has rights over us.
You mention that you have a certain skill in graphics? Build on it! Every man needs some kind of profession, trade, skill, etc., so find what you're interested in / good at and work on it. Think about how you will earn a living because - whether we like it or not - that's how the world works! This will help you to fulfills the rights of your family over you, as you will be able to provide for them.
It has been mentioned before, but use your free time to look after your body as well. Eat right, keep fit and healthy. These are the rights of your body over you. Your body also has the right not to be over-worked, so taking time out to relax us very important otherwise we lose momentum. Just keep it halal of course
And last but not least - the rights of your Lord. This actually includes all of the above, in a way, but let's look at this from a more traditional perspective. There are two branches if religion, 'ilm and 'amal - knowledge and practice. Do you have classes with pious people you can attend? Can you read the Quran with good Tajweed? How much have you memorised? Don't tell me the answers to these questions, but think about how you can work on the knowledge side. Then also think how you can work on the side of practising Islam - this could include extra prayers, fasting, dhikr, charity or community work, youth work, helping out your family, and so forth.
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. It's difficult to get started on goals/plans, but set some short term (1 month, 3 months) and long term (6 months, 1 year, 5 years) goals and work hard . May Allah guide us, and forgive me for saying that which I do not myself perform or act upon.

Thank you for the information.
This is what i planned on doing.
1. Must perform all obligatory duties of Allah as He is the only one i can rely on when everyone abandon me. ( The saying is kind of true that when you are happy the whole world smiles with you and when you are sad you cry alone BUT Allah definitely listens to your cry)
2. My engineering studies ( Though i hate it. Not because i am bad it. Its just never thought it would be this boring. And for some reason it seems that i am just studying to gain knowledge for earthly pleasure which makes me more sad in a way).
3. Start Gym again ( Due to depression feel lazy but i need to try atleast).
4. Read books islamic mostly. Gain knowledge.
5. Help the society. Even though i feel in my head sometimes that current society should definitely feel some wrath and yet being a stupid person which i am i have a big plan in helping the society. Help the poor and unite the Muslim community. Its a huge plan but i believe i can pull it off. May Allah give me the strength and enough intelligence to do what i am planning to do.
6. Start swimming ( need the stress to be away from me ).
7. Avoid all bad things. But being a tv show and animation and game addict this will be abit tough but lets see.
I am minimizing watching tv shows. But i really like one anime lol.
Anyways brothers and sisters thank you for sharing your knowledge. It helped me alot.
