Wagwaan With Us Man?
Posted 22 May 2012 - 09:58 AM (#1)
Hope everyone is well Inhsa-Allah. I've been thinking about this for a while now......wagwaan with us man?
Why is it that we drink, smoke, fornicate and do every other 'bad thing' under the planet but when someone says something about Islam we turn into devout Muslims, sinless like newborn babies?
Why get so uptight about someone questioning our belief system when we barely follow it anyway?
Who elected us as the defenders of Islam when we behave like agents of the Shaytaan (sometimes)?
Wagwaan with us man?
We can't even wake up for fajr, but want to go for 'jihad' abroad!
Why is everyone wrong, but we are right?
Why is my Pir stronger than your Pir? PML ! ! !
Wagwaan with us man?
Why is everyone a gustakh but we are Aashiq - e - Rasul (saw)?
Why are we the only ones with a first class ticket to heaven?
Why are we benefit cheats? You know the drill, mr and mrs are 'separated' on paper so the rent and bills get paid, earn a grand a week, only declare £150, it goes on ..... and on ...... and on.......
Wagwaan with us man?
Why is every idea a bad idea unless its my idea?
Why are we more interested in voting for labour/conservative/jutt/raja/ bhens than voting for Allah, his Rasul (saw) and the Haqq?
Why are boys allowed to do what they want but not girls?
Wagwaan with us man?
Why must I marry my cousin to prevent my nan from having heart failure? PML ! ! !
Why can boys wear skinny jeans tighter than leggings and not be called tarts/slags?
Why must girls wear hijab but show off every other part of their body as long as it's shalwar kameez?
Wagwaan with us man?
Why is sex a taboo subject?
Why do we not 'know' our children?
Why is money more important than time with family?
Wagwaan with us man?
Why can we not just earn a halal living? Why cheat and lie for a few extra quid, is Imaan that cheap?!
Why is sending kids to Mosque time for respite rather than time for them to learn?
Why do we have beef over land back home?
Wagwaan with us man?
Why do we not talk to each other for years but then cry when the one you had beef with is dead?
Why not man up and sort the beef while people are alive?
Why not reconcile while time is on our side?
Wagwaan with us man...........
I think at least one of those statements applies to us, maybe even more.......
Do we even understand the repsonsibility of saying the words ' La Ilaha Illallah Muhammad Rasullah'? If we do, then why do the above statements apply to us?
Why are we so far away from the truth and Beauty of Allah and his Rasul (saw)? I heard a wise man once say that the beauty of Dawah is in our actions, not our words.......at first I was puzzled but then I realised I can have the best words but without the action to follow it up, the words are usless. However, if I have no words but all the actions, that is far superior than spouting something without conviction and action.
Islam is beautiful and simple, you and I have corrupted it with our own self interest. Some of the things we argue, differ and debate over are so crazy it's just sad! What if prior to everytime we spoke or did something we thought 'What will Allah and his Rasul (saw) think of this'? Can you imagine the change that we could bring about.......come on, let's do it because we can and because (like Loreal) we are worth it! Is it not enough that we are luck to be Ummati of the best Ummah? Has our Lord not favoured us more than we will ever know? Are his Signs not enough?
Bulleh Shah's words sum it up perfectly below. Abida Parveen smashes it up!

We will continue to fail and falter, but so what? We need to keep on getting up and trying again and again. Insha-Allah He will be there for us every step of the way.
Peace

Why do British Pakistani Muslims think and talk like they are black gangstas from Rap and Hip Hop videos yet would never marry/date a black gyal dem?!

the answer to this and all the other questions Snoop is that we are just nominal Muslims and hypocrites of the first order--myself included. The reality is we believe in Islam but we
don't REALLY believe in it...if you know what I mean.
Basically, we seem to be displaying all the symptoms of a schizophrenic who doesn't know which of his personalities to be. It is typical of 2nd and 3rd gen immigrants really as we're
caught between our parents culture, our native British culture and Islam. The result is the confused people you see before you.
My bet is that within 50 years we will be completely assimilated and only have Muslim names. Just like the Jews who have totally assimilated into UK cultural life and their only
connection to Judaism is that they might sometimes go to the Temple or have a Bar Mitzvah and support Israel but apart from that they live their lives indistinguishable from atheists.
We're going down that route. already the above lifestyle is true of a minority of us--in 30 odd years it'll become the majority lifestyle.

How many of us would return to our homelands if the pirs that we so adore said its haram to live in the uk?
Now how many would go back if the british government said we will pay you 1 million to go back?
So na isa pir na musa pir sirf paisa pir. Its the same for all of us and if it shows anything we are chasing duniya not the lord. Say to any elder lets go back and the first thing they will say is "khao ge kiya"?

That is a great post MR. The heart of the matter is that anyone in Pakistan or any other poor country would come to the UK or any other rich country simply because of economics. If Pakistan was a wealthy country our elders would never have come to the UK in the first place. It's all about the economics.
Everything else is just a staged drama.

100% sahih baat! money is a powerful thing. when people have money they can do what they want; when countries
are rich they can also do what they want and tell others what to do!
its not limited to pakistani muslims but anyone and anybody.
true. it's all about money. as scarface says, 'first you get the money. then you get the power. then you get the .....'
Yes our deen has superior morals but they count for little on empty stomachs.
exactly. something if you try telling our mullahs and others of a similar bent they are loathe to admit. someone asked a poor person, 2 + 2 ? he answered 4 rotiyaan
How many of us would return to our homelands if the pirs that we so adore said its haram to live in the uk? none of us. what really pees me off is when
some of these people go on the minbar and preach about the virtues of poverty!! (whilst themselves doing anything to get a visa for the UK for them and their families!)
Now how many would go back if the british government said we will pay you 1 million to go back? a lot of us!

Sad Times? Is that a new newspaper? I can just see that flying off the shelves.
'Wagwaan with us man that we need to use badman's lingo?' Umm..not you badman, just general.
The problem with is we are trying to emulate a creed, a style which promotes the negative into a positive.
Yes, Sad Times indeed, so much questions, so little time for answers. Good post.
Man has disappointed you Brother Snoop, maybe you should spend time in solitary and reflect, surely you will find it beneficial.

I don't think it's about being disappointed, just how much we actually neglect the favours that Allah has bestowed upon us all.....
Solitary? That sounds like a punishment!
You're right though, solitary confinement and reflection is awesome.....I normally find it in the kitchen washing dishes....yup, i'm the dishwasher

bro islam is elevation and human nature is more ummayad than islam. We have fears, we have needs, we have wants, we have longings, we have desires etc Islam tells us to sacrifice for the sake of the greater good, islam tells us to fear no one but allah, islam tells us to have our necks struck off for justice. Our nature tells us look after yourself, sod the next person. Our nature tells us if to acheive anything you have to step on someones toes then why havent you already done it and are waiting for an answer!
i have seen so-called devout tableeghi's when confronted by problems start hunting for pir's and then be fleeced like the rest of us! Why should they get to save their money! I have seen brelvi's leave on pir and go to another simply because one is free and their normal one charges a higer rate of "khidmat"!!
That is how i understand why people turned against saints, prophets and ahle bayt. Because all three teach, sabr, tawheed, sacrifice, giving and not taking. "Na khud khatay hai na hamay khaanay detey hai"! What the original post is asking why we arent momin's - and in reality it isnt easy. Especially when in England all that is supposedly good about life is there for the taking - and if u own a take away or drive a taxi u dont even ask u just take it!
Wealth converts a strange land into homeland and poverty turns a native place into a strange land.

Next time you place those dishes in the sink just remember it won't even take a moment to wash them so Im sure no one will really notice if thats what your worried about AND your applying a Sunnah into your life! How amazing is that?

JazakaAllah Kheir Brother Zaid, what a beautiful message. I so needed to hear that like a flower needs the sun.
It's so easy to be influenced by the wrong people around you, to fall into their ways mindlessly and not even notice it, and lose your peace of mind and soul but to hold onto to your good, righteous and pure hearted ways is a struggle, and if you feel that you are losing your goodness to them then it's time to change those around you rather than changing into them and surround yourself with people who lift you higher, who inspire you and who show you the right way without feeling that you have failed, it's their loss and your gain.
You might feel that you have lost, alone, hopeless but in actual fact you have succeeded and the world has failed you.
Brother Zaid you are not Badman, in fact you're a Great Man. Bless you
Imam Ghazzali RA
