(And I'm not talking about the spelling mistake.)

You know, I consider myself Sunni and my teachers are among those who some people might call 'Sufi' scholars... But I find this to be quite out of order. WHERE ARE THE BARELWI ULEMA? I want to ask them about this matter once and for all, because I think the layman has gone on his own path and the Barelwi Ulema have taken another.

Sorry to use the word Barelwi, I don't ordinarily like these names because you shouldn't group people up like that.

No I dont see anything wrong with this. If people can call themselves sufi then I dont see why its wrong when others refer to you using that same term. Some people have the word sufi in their name so when people mention these individuals they have to say sufi followed by the name. This is what I think is wrong but calling someone a sufi out of choice I dont see anything wrong in that.

Its just like salafis naming themselves salafi and what not. If they can go out there and say we are from the salaf Im sure they wouldnt mind if others referred to them as salafi even though they dont really fit the bill. Although, I myself dont really like using terms unless its doing someone good.

It's all Business. Live 'blessings' from Madina to Ajmeer and all this stuff are important to 'get funds' from ignorant Sufi lovers who tend to belive that their Pir and Shaykh has got all the powers and they 'actually' don't need to ask anything directly from Allah. I think channel pays handsome amount of money in making sure that their employees (Barelvi Ulma') remain busy in debating non-issues and turn a blind eye to their advertising campaigns and other-activities.

Wahab can Only be attributed to Allah, so how can a saint be invoked to bestow, when no one can but God(?)

i think we should give benefit of the doubt - to me it seems that someone has got hold of a thesaurus and not know what he is writing, as the spelling mistake hints. The whole sentence seems like a crime against the english language if anything!

You should be glad doc qalam is missing otherwise he would have berated you for not having a 3D plasma from bang and olufson!

You know, usually I am completely pro giving benefit of the doubt. If I overhear something slightly questionable, I'll be the first to pardon them. But on TV it's entirely a different matter - the masses can EASILY be misled, and in fact this is the problem. The actions of the ignorant at shrines, for example, transgress that which even their scholars would permit. This is the result of miscommunication. Even those scholars who allow Taweez do so with conditions, i.e. that your dependence is on Allah and not the item itself, but people can easily - in their ignorance and miscommunication - fall into Shirk. And I'm not saying that from a Salafi perspective at all.

My objection with this advert is this deifying way of referring to the respected deceased (who it is I don't know). Asking for the "bestowal of blessings" is something that I only associate with asking Allah - tawassul which the Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah have allowed (e.g. see Notions that Must be Corrected by Shaykh Sayyid Muhammad ibn Alawi al-Makki al-Maliki) is asking Allah for blessings by virtue of xyz.

Seeker, to put things in perspective; this is what you’re saying:

Ya Gharib Nawaz help me - this is wrong and deifying?

Vs.

Ya Allah help me for the sake of your revered saint Gharib Nawaz – this is right?

What’s the difference?

It's not who I am underneath, but what I *do* that defines me – (Batman Begins)
