My two friends they do collect for charities and as you mentioned every time a different idea work better . One of them sell tickets in advance £ 5 each and she orgnised a coffee morning after easter break cakes and buscuits in it only and she bake boil cakes and sell them there and she and her friends knit wollen toys etc and she sell them there and when she sell tickets for coffee morning she also sell raffel as well and the prize always donations from friends.

But the major thing she always do in may break she ask auction valuers people to come and value the stuff people bring there to be valued. The auctioners come free and value the stuff what ever people bring and they do this free of charge because they having there advertisement etc. Each piece people bring they pay £ 3 each and entry is £3 and all money goes to the charity .

if people think to sell they can to the value people and if they want to put in auction they can and if that sell they pay 20% to the value people so they come every year and give the service free because they can take few things back what they bought from people. She made last year £ 2300 and about two hundred people came and this orgnised in a rugby club and they gave the club free. If you got any people intrested to know how much there old things valued may be you can ask any auctioners to come and arrange this.

My other friend always arrange a concert in local welfare place and they gave the place free and she arranged singers free etc and she made about 2 to 3 thousand . this is include ticket and snacks but I am living all english people around.

for our people may be they not pay a lot for ticket etc.

You can try a curry quiz night ask any local welfare or rugby club they will give free hall and they always got cutlery etc enough for one or two hundreds people. Ask any local good resturants to donate food if you cant have from one place ask few ( they can do one dish each etc ) and do the quiz while they having snacks .Sell tickets in advance.

if you think no then deliver empty envelopes and ask people contribute and collect after a week this is time consuming.

if you arrange a concert I think more young will join you so serach for singers around or ask local radio to provide and ask any good hall which you can have free for charity etc.

I thought you asking ideas to arrange an event for charity as you stated you will ask family and will collect £ 100 so why not ask all neighbours and aunties and uncles you will get few hundreds then insha Allah.

Not many people give as much money for charity unless they are getting something out of it. If I go round neighbours collecting I will only get a few quid out of it but if I use the money for additional things people are more likely to part with their money because they are getting something else out of it. I knw its a sad state of affaiars in this day and age where we wont donate to charity unless we are getting something out of it ourselves. Although we have much more yet still we want more and more not knowing and realising that this money is on loan to us, it is not even ours, it is a blessing from Allah we should be thankful that He has given it to us so that we can worship Him through it but we abuse this and commit sins with His blessings. Astagfirullah.

People are dying every single day and we just overlook what we see on the news. We're so arrogant we dont even know whats going on around the world and we dont even wish to find out because we prefer to live our comfortable lives without a thought of our brothers and sisters who are suffering for us while we dont even give a second thought about them.

May Allah Guide us to what He Loves and keep us away from what He Dislikes. Ameen.

Salams,

Good advice from AM. 123, you will get more sense and help from 'outsiders' than our own! When it comes down to charity you will find help from people who you would least expect to help you.

My brother does charity work for the blind people in Liverpool, he is one of the board members for the charity - Liverpool Talking Newspaper. They're always looking for ways of raising funds for the free, unpaid work and service they provide for the blind people in the city. every year they have a summer garden tea party (where one of the members kindly organises a garden tea party and the members along with certain blind people get invited). At the party the guests bring with them items to sell (kind of an auction) this is done in an entertaining way where the guests intentionally pay over the odds for certain items, at the end what ever money that is raised goes back into the kitty.

One of board members for Liverpool talking newspaper (LTN -the charity for the blind) is a committed Christian (lol). The church she attends on a weekly basis give her the access to use the church premises for her charity work (twice a year) she does this by inviting the local operatic society 'Gilbert and sullivans of Liverpool' to perform (for free) at the church once a year. Again all the proceeds from the concert go back into the kitty.

We know The last couple of years have been a bit of a struggle for LTN, as it was, last year me and my brother were invited to a 'Miss Liverpool' modelling competion by two of our friends who were taking part in the competion. They told us that if they win the competion they would have to do certain charity work - one of the models was to help a cancer charity and the other was to help a local young kid - help him to take him to America for a disease which was only Treated in the states. we told them about the charity my brother's involved in and how they're struggling - straightaway they volunteered to help LTN! They told us they knew certain venues and restaurants (who would not charge a penny) in the city who would be very obliged to help for free publicity. They told us that other models would help out as well as this would look good on their cv, lol! They said they would need around three months and that they can organise a charity fashion show and c/platter at one of the venues in the city and get local fashion designers to help out as well! When it comes to charity a lot of people are willing to put that extra effort in. the kind of people one would least expect from - theyre the first to help.

My brother bought up the proposition in one of their meetings, Unfortunately, due to the LTN board members being old - the LTN members declined the offer. Our friends were more disappointed than us!!!

You know what you do (123)? Become a volunteer for a uk based, non-religious but a meaningful charity that helps the ill/disadvantaged people in your town/cities vast community. You might not seem the point straightaway but if you persevere and be patient a lot of different avenues will open up for you - one of the many avenues that will open up are you will see/find the means for yourself how you can organise a future event without the help of those who always tend to let you down!

Help yourself by volunteering and helping out at a local sincere charity!

Sorry for going on a bit above but that's what we've experienced by meeting different people. Certain channels will Insha'ALLAH open up for you - persevere and have patience!

So there I was searching online for some ideas and then bang!

It came to me... but its not an outside of the box idea. Its more of a business initiative but its for charity and it will inshaAllah make a lot of money if everything goes to plan... :)

But first of all I need 200 squids, anyone??

Pleas remember me in your duas.

JazakAllah Kheyr
