The believers send durood because primarily it is to their own benefit. Though the personality of s.a.w is such that it is deserving without a reward or any benefit being available.

Allah tells us that He swt and his angels also send it. Now the angels one would presume do it as an order of allah. Though im sure they could be other reasons.

Now there is no benefit to allah swt so is it simply an action for the believer to follow? Or are there other reasons?

Good question. the word 'salah' or any other term changes its meaning in relation to a referent. when durud/salah refers to Allah(S) then it means causing to increase even further the status and praise of the Prophet(S). when it refers to angels it means to seek from God the increase in honour and praises of the Prophet(s).

we have in surah wa-l-Duha that Your next moment is better than your last.


see it in this framework then I think it will be easy to grasp the meaning.

and as for benefit to Allah(s)...what benefit is to God for creation itself?

Because ALLAH love his beloved Prophet (Sal ALLAHU Alihi Wa Alihi Wasalam)

No one can love the beloved Prophet (Sal ALLAHU Alihi Wa Alihi Wasalam) more than ALLAH
