Someone told me janaza prayer is supposed to be conducted at a kabarstaan (grave yard). Is this true and why is it usually held in masjids? Could chanda collection be one of the reasons for holding janaza prayer in masjids? The reason I mention chanda collection is because this is something what someone was telling me.

He mentioned how Dawat-e-Islami/Faizan-e-Madina do janaza prayers at kabarstaan and not at masjids. Is doing janaza prayers at kabarstaan the Islamic way/the correct way gooing about doing janaza prayers but is there anything wrong with having it done in a masjid whether chanda collection (from the masses) is collected or not or whether there is a chanda collection intention behind it.

One other thing this person told me that eating langar shareef at a masjid is haraam until the mosque makes you do itiqaaf for it... or he said something along this line.

If collecting chanda in masjids (when there are janaza prayers/session) is not a problem, is it an issue if it were to be collected for the masjid or for other good causes (e.g. charity) from people (who will happen to be large in numbers therefore resulting in large sums being collected) whilst they are present in kabarstaan - should janaza be held at kabarstaan?

Also, how is janaza conducted in a grave yard anyway compared to it being conducted in masjid?

P.s. The person whom I was talking to is a Sunni himself and started to keep a beard and tries to practice Islam after meeting up with Dawat-e-Islami people/organisation. He is not a Wahabi, Salafi or such.

inshALLAH, some other brothers/sisters will give you detailed answer

i just wanted to say there is nothing wrong to offer janaza prayer in masjid's sehan (outer part of masjid), from last twenty years here (mumbai) we used to offer prayer in masjid's sehan, and believe me first time i heard about chanda during janaza prayer, so chanda is not the reason for not offering prayer in masjid's sehan.
chanda is only on Friday prayer in some masajids..
