As I have just come across a special offer which has been mentioned before I will start this thread which was suggested/requested recently by Sister Malaikah.

The idea is to share news of offers on mainly basic daily necessities (tea, ... etc) to start of with. The idea is to be selective and sparing as not to clog up the forum. InshaAllah.

I can't see myself sharing anything else for a while after this. (...?) InshaAllah.

Tetley tea (240 teabags) is on at half price. This offer has started today in Morrisons. A good time to stock up. Approx. a penny per teabag is a very good deal (Note: Not if it is 'one-cup' teabags). There may be a limit of packets (probably 3) per customer per visit. Get around this by making another visit or take someone else along with you.

On a sidenote. Over the weekend I visited Morrisons and spotted the red (extra strong) tetley tea pack (160 teabags) on at half-price at about £2.19 (?). Didn't fancy strong tea. The blue pack offer is better.

Btw I just spotted ketchup is on offer too (scroll sideways on above link). However, will have to compare to bigger bottle to decide on whether to stock up. Previously we stocked up on the bigger bottle when on offer.

Another thing I've decided on is a value sandwich maker from Tesco. (£4.64) User reviews seem generally good.

240 and as you said can buy 3 so 240x3 enough but you said take someone with you that means 6x240 but by the time you going to finish 3 packs the offers on again in same or different stores so I think better buy 3 only and get fresh later .

as we paksitani shop we get 3 packs and take friend or a child with us for the other 3 pack , my tai jaan visits offer stores a lot and her house always look a little tea bag house.

if we buy more then again a problem for storage so I think good if we buy only 3 packs at a time when start the 2nd pack look for other offers for tea and get more when starts the 3rd pack.

one of my aunt she bought from the drinks offers about 50 bottels but at the end she said the children finished them all very quick and she learnt no better only buy few at a time ( she was visiting with all kids every day to store 50 when only buy 3 per person)

Some very wise points by the sister with a little humour.

By stocking up I meant about 4 to 6 packs. Family can go up to 30 teabags per day if you include a couple of relatives visiting.

Even shop keepers were said to be buying products on offer (such as crisps) and selling them in their own shops. Difficult to do now as the products are labelled as 'multipack' and 'not to be sold seperately'. They'd get caught out.

Moving on. I did say I wouldn't post so soon however something important I came across a couple weeks ago. You might be familiar with a certain fish sold in a box for about £15 by your local Delboy. Came across a website that brought this fish into question. After reading it I decided I wasn't gonna eat it again and was going make relatives etc aware. Today I have read a little of the comment section which I somehow missed earlier. Now I'm not sure anymore. Some people seem to be put off the fish while others are dismissing the article as unsubstantiated scare mongering. It seems tesco also sells the fish. One commenter said:

Willow

Willow is like butter but made of a blend of oils etc sold in local shops and stores. Same size, shape as a block of butter. Even morrisons sell it now.
It's for about a pound. In Bradford Park Bazaar is selling it for 2 for £1.40. I went a few days ago and they had sold out. I was told they will come on wednesday (tommorrow).

Watsons Milk.

Milk has been quite cheap in Bradford (not supermarkets).
- Atah's cash and carry still has it has it on 'buy 2 (2 ltr) for £1.50.' Other stores have raised it by 10p, 20p etc depending on the store. I remember earlier last year when Pakeezah store opened up they had it on 2 for £1 to attract customers.

Sometimes I wonder about the cheap prices of the milk, chicken fillet burgers, chicken and chips, etc and wonder whether there is a catch. Hope there isn't.

Just checked out the Tesco groceries site and came across the following:

Gonna get some of these InshaAllah along with some Tetley from Morrisons (see OP)

- Sugar Puffs 625g @ halfprice £1.49 (offer from 3/1 till 23/1/2012)
Younger sibling likes these. Bought 3 packs (325g packs on buy 1 get 2 free) from Morrisons a month or so ago and family has already consumed them.

- Muller fruit corner snack size (8 x 95g) buy one get two free. £3.28 (3/1 till 17/1/2012)

This product is suitable for vegetarians. However the crunch corner variety are also included in the offer but they are not labelled suitable for veg. Alway check for the 'V' sign. Other packs contain a variety of flavours some of which are suitable for veg while others are not. Avoid them.

On a side note. There was a thread on here about green tea. I may try some for the first time. It's on offer at Tesco:

- Co-op has tetley tea on a t halfprice too. It's not as good a deal as Morrisons. Co-op are doing the 160 teabag packet for £2.04. This is just to give you a comparison.

- Co-op also doing Wotsits crisps (a tasty favourite) @halfprice. Recall the 'Walker's halal' thread to learn about how the GMWA (halal guide) has removed 'Walkers' and 'Mars' products due to lack of info from the companies. I'm thinking of buying these Wotsits (even though I already bought 2 Walkers french fries packs (18 pk) @halfprice from Tesco yesterday £2.09.)

- I made a visit to Tesco yesterday and bought some 'offer' items mentioned in previous posts: Value sandwich toaster, 3 x Sugar puffs, Muller crunch corner snack size buy 1 get 2 free (is labelled suitable for veg), Tetley green tea and Tetley green and lemon tea. I was lucky to get hold of one PG Tips (280s) pack which someone had placed away from its shelf. Asked customer service about anymore in stock and was told that there were only 19 packs and must be sold out. The assistant wasn't sure if anymore stock would arrive in the next deliveries.

- Bought 4 packs of Tetley. There seemed to be no limit on purchase.

value sandwich maker not good after few weeks will start breaking bread and bread stick inside , so a good sandwich maker about 15/20 will last forever.

You know what theres been a change of plan. SO what happened was my brother had been coming home from work the last few months and saying things like the end of times is near etc. Then he started to watch Sheikh Nazims videos about the end of times (dont ask) then what happened was he decided that we should immigrate to Pakistan!! (however I would be more happier in a more Islamic place but he is a family orientated person and he would also like to dump us all there while he goes off, sad I know). So basically he has been trying to convince my dad who was having none of it at first but all his hard work seems to be paying off!!

Soooo yea the reason I have said all the above is because we are thinking of immigrating inshAllah instead of stocking up! Im so sorry for any inconvenience but I guess it could be relevant to others inshAllah. Also wanted to add that isnt the technology going to end too? SO there wouldnt be a point in buying frozen foods or anything that requires a fridge.

Tetley? Yuck!

You lot should try proper tea - that is loose leaf --and not the cheap stuff like Tetleys/PG Tips etc.
As a bit of a tea connoisseur let me recommend

Darjeeling First Flush (Badamtam or Margaret's Hope) (the champagne of teas)
Assam
Ceylon
Chinese Jasmine Pearls White Oolong
Silver Needle White
Ti Kuan Yin Monkey Picked Oolong

'. Tea specialists such as Whittards of Chelsea
will stock them. Fortnum and Masons is another excellent place to buy real tea.
These are, obviously, a bit more expensive ranging from about £5 for 50g at the lower end to £15+ (50g) for the Jasmine Pearls/Ti Kuan Yin/Silver Needle...but you get what you pay for
and the leaves can be reused more than once. These teas are drunk lightly brewed and without milk or sugar of course unless you're a barbarian!

Actually they also have good sales in these places and you can pick up bargains too.

I used to buy Nappies not too long ago so I can tell a bargain. I will talk about the common size 4 nappies (smaller sizes include more nappies). Any offer from a good brand that works out at 10 pence a nappy (size 4) is a very good deal. Morrisons is doing Pampers Baby Dry nappies at half-price. £5.99.

Size 4 you get 70 nappies. Not only does this work out at 10 pence a nappy (size 4) but your getting 10 nappies on top for free.

10 pence a nappy is what you should be looking for. Sometimes in Asda they do the size 4 big Pamper boxes 120 nappies for £12.

Don't mistakenly pick up the wrong variety which include dodgy flavours. Bacon , ribs whatever.

In recent days tea has been on offer @tesco and co-op but Morrisons has started a half price deal today which is a little cheaper. I bought 6 packs today (6 is the limit per customer). Perfect timing as the previous stock was coming to an end.

Family member was hoping for PG tips on offer as it is stronger and they prefer the aroma. I'll look out for any upcoming ofers.

Yes. I noticed that and it is a standout bargain and I would have gone for it. However the milk we get is 'Watsons' from local cash & carries which is popular as it is sold for 2 for £1.70 the cheapest. It used to be 2 for £1.50 but gradually crept up 5/10pence at a time throughout the year.

I bought cravendale once after I heard someone praise it saying how it was proper milk and the tea didn't remain relatively dark as in cheaper milk. I didn't see this though. The only reason for buying cravendale seems the 'purity' factor. If one deems it a enough of a draw.

Aye it is good - the praise u heard was probably for the whole milk - which is what i get. it lasts longer too - can be in the fridge for at least 7 days before going bad, mind u knowing my kids it doesnae last that long anyway!

I've found another deal - a free tag heuer watch with a mobile phone contract! now thats a bargain!
