_______________
.:Shameless Fear:.
_______________
You see the hurt and reach out
To comfort, to help some way
But the yearning in you is consumed by doubt
That destroys you slowly every day
Part of you wants to break through
And fly open past the barriers of fear
But the world is a dark place in your view
So you cower away with a silent tear
The other part scolds you mercilessly
Dragging you away with claws of shame
“The world will never end happily,
“You’re the loser in this game”
You hear the laughs and cries of joy
And ache to join in too
To stand up, whether to a girl or boy
And finally be straight and not askew
You hear the voices speaking wisdom
And long to be the same
To learn and preach, and go and come
Where everyone knows your name
You see the wrong but instead shy away
Afraid of what they’ll think of you:
An extremist, a weirdo, a foul play
…afraid that they just might be true
But through this mask of shameless fear
Is indeed a wise pure heart
But through the goodness is a smear
That keeps you and everything else apart
In order to wash off the stain
You must believe in yourself and not be afraid
To experience happiness and pain
In order to heal your soul that was once frayed
So always believe that you can do it-
That you can win and strive forth
So, work hard and don’t just sit
Spread your voice east, west, south, and north
In you is a another person just waiting to be
So let him/her out and set yourself free
