Nose ring, cultural bling, or an ugly thing?

I personally dislike facial piercings. But my younger sister happens to have her nose pierced. It suits her well. It's just a tiny little stud.

But I always had this thought in the back of my mind that it wasn't acceptable in islam for facial piercings? Am i wrong?
