This is a true story

There was once a man who was given the nickname "Misk". He was called Misk becaused he smelled beautiful. Whereever he walked people would know that he has been there as they could smell the perfume. Everyone in the town new "Misk"- The Perfumer, The Fragrant one.

Someone decided to ask Misk why does he smell so good? So the man went up to Misk and asked

"O Misk. What attar do you were that has such a strong fragrance that last for days?" Misk replied

"Let me tell you a story about me. When I was young, my parents brought me up very well. They taught me islamic manners. I used to always be polite and stay in a clean state. My clothes were clean and I smelt good. I was a very handsome man. I worked as a salesman. Once, an old lady came to order some  expensive goods. My boss told me to escort her home so I did.

She took me to a large mansion and led me to one of the rooms. When I sat inside she locked the door behind her and brought forward a young, handsome woman. The woman sat next to me. I lowered my gaze and tried hard not stair. She just got closer and closer to me. I told her "Do you not have any shame, Allah is watching us?!". But she did not care. She just wanted to disgrace herself. I asked her could I go to the toilet before we do anyting. She replied "Yes". So I went to the toilet. I then goy my feaces and najas and wiped it over my face. I dirtied my close with them. I cant out smelling like s***.

I went to the girls room and she was shocked by what she saw. There was a lot of commotion in the palace. I escaped as fast as I could. When I got home I washed my body and my clothes. I purified them and removed all the Najasa. Then I went to sleep.... During my sleep, I had a dream in which a fiure wiped his hand over my body. I asked who are you. He replied " I am Jibraeel".

When I woke up my body smelt like perfume. There was a strong, beautiful fragrance around that would not go. Hadrat Jibraeel had wiped his hand over me and due to the blessing I now smell of fragrance"

In this story, a beautiful, handsome and clean man, humbled and shames himself by rubbing feaces over himself. He did this to avoid the tricks of Shaitaan and also to avoid commiting fornication with that young woman. As a result, Allah blessed with Hadrat Jibraeel passing his blessed hand over the mans body. Now he smells  of attar wherever he walks.

This is a true story that occurred not so long ago. It happened in Damascus (Syria) and al-Miski ("the fragrant one"), may Allah have mercy on him, is now buried not far from masjid al-amawi.
I have not heard about the part with Jibreel (a.s.) but much of the rest is well-known amongst the people of Damascus.

That’s quite an extreme measure to go to say no.:ermm:

Sorry to be a bit fickle, what is the message here, smear crap on yourself to be humble? Aren’t there other methods we can use to be more humble?
Just playing devil’s advocate!

No disrespect intended to Al-Miski.

I remind you of Surat Yusuf - the Prophet Yusuf (a.s.) went to EVEN MORE of an extreme, he preferred to spend years and years in PRISON just to avoid this sin! Al-Miski rahimahullah is truly an honourable inheritor of Sayyidna Yusuf (a.s.).

Edit: the narration in the first post may not do justice - the woman was forcing al-Miski to commit zina, and threatened to accuse him of rape (since he was already lured into her house). Upon this difficulty and dilemma, he did what he had to do, may Allah increase him in ranks.

And so, your incessant need to be a sceptic :Whistling:! I don't blame you though - I, too, am a sceptic on many things, and perhaps maybe even on this issue if I didn't know better.
To put it shortly, the miracles of al-Miski are well-known and established throughout Damascus. Ask any scholar who studied there - and perhaps in other Shaami cities - about him and they will narrate it to you with the full awe and honour this deserves. He was a real man, rahimahu Allah, and he is buried in the central area of Damascus in the Old City, not so far from where sayyiduna Salahuddin al-Ayoubi (radi Allahu anhu) is buried.

i'd love to do a long-winded build-up of the tension, leading to a climax, but i'll just get straight to the point; why oh why, would somebody just randomnly lock you up and sit a beautiful belle next to you who demands sex?

Is this something that only happens in Islamic books, safe in the knowledge that the audience won't know any different? Not to be naughty, but the last time I read something like this, it was in a 'under-the-carpet' type novel when I was a pre-pubescent boy. Though smearing feaces was all part of the script.

Precisely my point.

Details, specifics and references, don’t expect everyone to believe everything they hear or read we’re not all gullible fools!
When one asks for facts don’t just randomly shoot them down, answer with an intelligent answers, or forever hold your peace.

It’s all part of a thing called learning, and I prefer to learn from facts when it comes to Islam.

I have no issues with people who wish to question the authenticity of incidents. Heck, it keeps us sane! Especially since Sunnis are not very good at it compared to Wahabis who seem to have a Sahih authority for everything.
When it comes to non-Prophetic incidents and karaamaat, for which documentation is NOT scrupulous, we each have an individual choice to believe it or not. Therefore, none have the right to say it happened 100% as it was narrated, but one must also honour the fact that perhaps this incident does have a sound basis, and such a person did exist, and Allah chose this person to be amongst their friends. As such, it is important to maintain a dignity and respect towards such people, and not deny it outright based upon personal feelings or ideas.
There is nothing contentious here Islamically: this may have been a pious individual that Allah chose, he may have been a Wali of Allah, Allah may have blessed him with the miracle of fragrance wherever he went. What I'm trying to say is question - but do so with respect.

Well... I heard this story in a Dawateislami Ijtima and I thought I would share it to you. The brother giving the speech was talking about how the pious people go to extreme lengths to stay away from sin and we should try to do the same.

(Miski Rahimahullah by the way is a wali of Allah so anyone speaking about him should try doing it in a respectful manner)

This is a well known story. I do not know where it originated from.

But either way, whether its true or not, you get the point innit?...

That we should try to stay away from sins no matter what we have to go through.

Well brother, you should have stated that from the off and saved us all inquiring about the post.

Now I’ve heard it all.

Hah... ok, well I've heard this through Damascene Syrian shuyukh separately, the fundamentals of the story at least.
Edit: The "town" this occurred in was in fact Damascus, Syria.

Prophet Yusuf AS DIDN'T 'prefer' to spend that time in jail, it was a consequence.

As for Dawat-e-islam, they're notorious for making stories up (ok not so notorious because most people following them are sheep).

I was watching their channel once and the guy speaking tells us some story about a pakistani Christian who converted to islam

basically
1) Christian man saw Jesus AS in his dream
2) he was told to convert to islam and become a mureed of the Sheikh of Dawate-e-islam
3) the man did all of this
4) then he went to his wife
5) she converted also
6) then he went to his second wife
7) then i changed the channel because i know this is a lie

they cannot be taken seriously, a movement that has good intentions but is for simpletons.

12:33 قال رب السجن احب الي مما يدعونني اليه والا تصرف عني كيدهن اصب اليهن واكن من الجاهلينHe said: "O my Lord! the prison is more to my liking than that to which they invite me: Unless Thou turn away their snare from me, I should (in my youthful folly) feel inclined towards them and join the ranks of the ignorant."Don't want to comment on the rest except that your logic of "DI said it, therefore it's a lie" is flawed to say the least. Not saying I'm one of them / agree with all of them.

salams,

I donot believe the above story to be true. Islam was spread by the truth not a pack of lies! The people who are making these stories up are indirectly implying a lie towards ALLAH' Religoun with their bogged down gutter stories (think about it)

can imagine how certain groups will have delivered this story to their flock..... with the latter proclaiming Subhan'ALLAH Subhan'ALLAH in between each sentence. Dont think Men of God need to associate or rub themselves with poo poo to prove their piety. how come these fools (the ones who read out these jackonories) how come they dont rub themselves with their own dung? ahh somebody answers "tho phir namaz kese parengai"? tell them "then why do you call yourselves sinners? you have the answer on how not to sin then practice what you preach"!!! silly fools!!!

when intentions are pure - there is no need to lie! insecured people lie and use emotional blackmail to dupe others.

Ps. this thread is in the 'get entertained' section....... hmmmm. never mind!
