This amazing article if you want to call it that has awaken something deep within and I dedicate my next poem to this entire writing, because I truly identify with it.

The Music of Life

I know I’m waiting, yearning for something,
something from somewhere, yet unaware
I hear you calling, calling and asking
what is this something, who is there?

Hopeless and helpless singing and dancing
to this mystery called my life
oblivious and unaware of my inner strife

Sometimes I can’t go on, hold me I’m holding on
I feel so lost and alone
empty and incomplete, what’s going on?

I see the smiles, the faces around me,
yet no one sees me or identifies with me
Stranger to my existence
Trying to fight the deep inner resistance
Crying out yet no one comes to my assistance

My soul is lingering reaching out for something
Something to complete me,
resuscitate me
into the harmony of my life

Until that something, touches me and completes me
unchaining and setting me free
my soul will struggle restlessly like a fish out of water
giving into the responsibilities of life, ready for the mass slaughter

A hollow heart sings to the poetry of love
where it finds solace and release, flying like a beautiful white dove
an empty soul will dance obediently to the tuneless notes of life
and kill the want, the yearn and the strife

I dream of the day where the music will play and no one will hear
a heart complete no one to fear
a hunger satisfied, a thirst quenched, a half becomes whole
a euphoric celebration of a completed soul.

Salams,

TMS, have you written that? that is great - you should become a songwriter, seriously!:)! very imaginative, Masha'ALLAH. have you considered writing songs? you should! very good... 5 (Gold) stars.

this is one of my favourites - (written by George Michael - how the hell he is what he is only he knows)

George Michael
Kindness in your eyes
I guess you heard me cry
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child

I'm blessed, I know
Heaven sent and heaven stole
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child

And what have I learned
From all this pain?
I thought I'd never feel the same
About anyone
Or anything again

But now I know
When you find love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you
On those cold, cold nights

When you've been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
Will comfort you
When there's no hope in sight

Sadness in your eyes
No one guessed, or no one tried
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child

Loveless and cold
With your last breath you saved my soul
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child

And what have I learned
From all these tears
I've waited for you all those years
And just when it began
He took your love away
But I still say

When you find love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you
On those cold, cold nights

When you've been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
Will comfort you
When there's no hope in sight

So the words you could not say
I'll sing them for you
And the love we would have made
I'll make it for two
For every single memory
Has become a part of me

You will always be
My love

Well, I've been loved
So I know just what love is
And the lover that I kissed
Is always by my side

Oh the lover I still miss
Was Jesus to a child

Subhan Allah! Whah, buhat khoob, KTL quoting Urdu poetry:)

It reminds me of my younger brother who once wrote to me a similar verse.

A fair attempt at poetry; I would suggest you read a book on poesy to learn the technical side of rhyme and rhythm.
Still, poetry is a beautiful, magical, thing -- something the Muslim world has still held on to to be proud of!--and
you shouldn't be embarrassed by your past effort. It was okay :) I'd suggest reading Stephen Fry's guide to poetry, The Ode Less Travelled!

Pindaar ka sanamkadah veeraan kiye huwe!

My heart, again, circumambulates that lane of reproach!
The temple of its' self-respect, desolate !

Or try Keats' Ode to a Nightingale or his La Belle Dames Sans Merci for poetry heaven in English.
"My intercession is for my sinful followers" - hadith of Sayyidina Rasool Allah sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam

DS my spoken and heard urdu is above average, I just become frustrated with roman urdu.

I'm going to do a poetry thread, I can't wait to share something, piecemeal with you all. A couplet of a longer rhapsody every day. In English ofcourse

Salams,

@T.M.S did you know Madonna has been heavily influenced by Mevlana Rumi? His Poems have been sung and recoreded by Madonna and many modern day artists. (I read in a report a few years ago) Before 9/11 Mevlana Rumi's book's were (like) best sellers in the U.S eventually being overtaken by The Holy Quran!

Thank you guys and Brother Badman for your kind words.

Yes I did write that once upon a time, and many more which I have published on this forum, we also initiated a rap thread and all the users got involved, which was fun.
I'm currently trying my hand at Urdu poetry, it's eloquent and beautiful.
Madonna inspired by Rumi? Well I never.

@Brother Sunniskeptic, I am by no means am a poet, I am not even worth the ink in their pots, writing is just a pass time, sometimes it comes good sometimes not, But I will bear in mind those books.

Here is one of my urdu couplets, some may like it some not:

Usne zakhm diye bhi to aise
chot lagi dil par aur nikle ansoo lahoo ke
Haath utay aur deni thi badwa
Magar is dil se nikhli bas un ke liye dua ˙•٠•●♥
