Since, they believe in the earlier Prophets (as) they have similar laws. Whereas the case with other religions, there is a huge clash in terms of creed.

In one of the question and answer sessions we had in Brisbane someone raised this topic and mufti explained to us at that time is was allowed but no it is no longer the case. The ahle kitab referred to in the quran are the jews and christians. but nowadays they have both changed the wording of their books and taken out what they dont like and added more stuff in (therefore they can no longer be known as the ahle kitab)

Unfortunately I have to disagree to that. At the time of revelation of Quran, Ahle Kitab had already corrupted their books & teachings, as it is obvious from how Allah (swt) rebukes them in Quran for creating wrong beliefs. If the same Quran at the same time, allows marriage to ahle-kitab, it means marriage to people with already corrupted divine religions.

Yes, the Quran is a book which lasts till the day of judgment. I used to be against brothers who didn't eat zabeeha meat. However, I later realized they had their own right.
Its funny! Once I met a extreme Deobandi Muslim. This man had a problem eating meat which was slaughtered by the 12r Shias, but he was okay with eating meat slaughtered by the Jews.

Every muslim loves jews, we can't deny that! we reject things from another muslim(Different sect) but still take jewish stuff.

all of you are not answering my question my question is whats the logic and reason for this, thats only if this is allowed. i am saying this because A man is allowed to marry a ahle kitab women and the women is not allowed, now lets look at this practically, that ahle kitab women will be the children's mother of that Muslim husband. now we know in Islam that it is obligatory on the husband to provide shelter and food for the family, the mother is the one with the child, so she is the one that will be teaching the child morals, ethics, religious deeds and etc, so what will she teach the child Muslim or Christian morals, ethics, etc.???

The logic behind this is simple, they hold a similar belief system, Worship the same god ect... So in this case Islam allows the marriage. And regarding why a muslim man can marry and not women, is based for influential factor. When a muslim man marries Ahla Kitab - women then there is a chance the Ahla Kitab wife might become a muslim, because the husbands influence will be greater.
Regarding what the children get taught, well this is something that can be dependent on compromise between both . And remember, the Quran says you 'can' marry 'people of the book', not that you 'have' to marry' people of the book'. So in this suition look for someone who is willing to compromise.
Moving on,
Since bro tech said, the teaching of the Ahla Kitab were already corrupt at that time and Allah(SWT) still permits marriage. i think this refers to the non mushrik poplution of Ahla kitab.
Another thing to add, Ahla Kitab is not just christains, but Jews also, and regarding shirk they don't believe moses to be the son of god/ or trinity ect..

(Kanzul - Ieman)
[Baqarah 2:221]And do not marry polytheistwomen untilthey become Muslims; for undoubtedly a Muslim bondwoman is better thana polytheist woman, although you may like her; and do not give yourwomenin marriage to polytheist men until they accept faith; for undoubtedlya Muslim slave is better than a polytheist, although you may like him;they invite you towards the fire; and Allah invites towards Paradiseandforgiveness by His command; and explains His verses to mankind so thatthey may accept guidance.
It's unlawful to marry polytheist women, as the above verse with some other make it. But it doesn't end here.
(Lawful unto you in marriage are chaste women who are believers and chaste women among the people of the book)[Sruah, al-Maidah, 5]
This verse explains the marriage to the people of the book as permissible.
But also just to add another, in terms with marriage in general, it is best to go with pious people whom are closer to god and are willing to take truth ect... and as every individual is different, it's your job to make sure you go with the right person, whom you will benefit in religion ect... ect... you know where i am coming from.
The reason Islam allows the marriage from the people of the book, is because they are from the similar belief system and hence more likely to adopt the true path. It's not a free ticket to pick any women who claims to be christain by name, but then rejects god altogether, like many people do. It means legit people who are of the book.
Hope you understand :)

than why are there scholars who say marriage to the ahle kitab is not allowed? how about the ahle kitab women that believe in Nabi Esa as being son of god which is the vast majority?

i agree that although it is allowed, in this day and age it would be very unwise move on our parts! we need our children to be near Islam not away! can you imagine your sons/daughters eating pork, wine, wearing immodest clothes and doing things not in Islam because your wife is not a muslim?
i would rather my kids be proper muslims..
and Allah knows best!

if some one believe hazrat mousa and esa alihaslam were prophets they are ahl - kitab if they think son of God then , they not ahl - kitab so it depend on the person who read there nikah to confirm that if they think son of God then he needs to tell them you cant marry because you not ahl - kitab , many molvees confirm that ist to read nikah.

I don't know what's Ulma' Ahle Sunnat viewpoint but according to Wahabia it must be allowed because their Dadi-Jaan was a Christian lady (Yazid's mother).
