Is oral sex allowed in Islam? I have read mixed reviews on this topic, as we live in the west its prob a topic that is brought forward more and more. From what I have read its says its not haraam but some scholors dislike this prractice. Is there any Hadith/Quran refernce to says its haraam/halaal. It also said the semen is makroah however the practice of oral sex is allowed. Views with reference please. :)

As-salamu 'alaykum,

A bit explicit for the open forum, I should say. But on the dictum--no shame in quering about religion--here are the scenarios:

Oral sex as foreplay: mubah
Oral sex with ejaculation (condoms or equivalent): makruh tanzihi
Oral sex with ejaculation (no condoms or the like): makruh tahrimi
Oral sex with ejaculation (condom, she is in her period): khilaf al-awla

It goes without saying these are low points for an otherwise rewardable act. The reason being that the act is against the Sunna and not the known practice of the pious, then and now.

P.S. Don't be surprised to hear different views on this, as it is a zanni matter. However, the above stratification of the masala in terms of scenarios is the soundest approach.

After asking Mr Google...i got the following

mubah-- something neither forbidden nor recommended
makruh tanzihi-- lesser makruh. Reward if dont do it but no sin if do it
makruh tahrimi-- disliked act very close to Haram. Should be avoided. repent if its done
khilaf al-awla-- better not to do

Aslam O Alaykum,

By reading above posts (and some google searches), its pretty clear this act is certainly not encouraged nor is it an act of worship. For that reason, let human act like human and consider it as BIG NO! :alien:

You have to realize that whatever opinions you will get ..... is just an opinion !

This wasn't practiced by RasoolAllah sallalahu alaihi wasalam if you're seeking an Islamic percpective and the reasons are quite obvious. Semen is najas and not just makruh.

Morally speaking, I feel its a disgusting thing to demand your wife to do especially when she is not comfortable with it at all.

Personally, her place is in my arms rather then down there.

Right Firstly I'm a bit annoyed at some of the people in this user. Have some respect!

Here is a sister asking a very question regarding Islam and people instead of helping her are slandering her?? For those people that are saying how shameful to ask such a question can i say to them did the Sahaba's not ask the prophet personal questions regaring intimatacy and from I know did women not ask abour personal women issues or did they refine just becoz its a topic that should never be discussed??? coz if they did not how would the next generation know?? This poor sister has had the courage to ask a personal question (which is hard enough to do anyway) such as this and who knows she may not have anyone or any other place to ask due to the nature of the question. if you never ask you never know right?

Anyway Back to the question, from what I know sis its a bit of a grey area (may Allah forgive me if i'm wrong) but from what i know its neither forbidden or approved from both men and women. Jazak'allah khair.

The verdict it seem is that If both husband and wife need to feel comftable with the act. If one is not then it should not be done. Because this act is not heard of in hadith or in the Quran therefore is not a Sunnah yet the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) has not fobidden it either that makes it not haraam act either.

i totally agree with sister FunkyChick987......the sister is probably very innocently asking such a question whether it is allowed in islam or not, to tell you the truth i don't know the answer to this either, what's so wrong about asking about this? this is what's wrong with many muslims today, they make topics such as sex, abortion, rape etc all taboo subjects....this should not be the case. Our beloved Prophet (pbuh) was asked all sorts of questions and he never shunned anyone away. if we do that, then the sin will be on our heads as we did not spread the message of the Truth.

therefore those who do have an opinion/answer to the sister's question then please answer, those who have a problem then why open this thread in the first place? if, God forbid, the sister has just asked this question to stir things or cause anger intentionally then that is between her and Allah. but we must always give benefit of the doubt and answer whatever question a brother/sister may ask.

You know I wrote a whole angry reply but deleted it as I dont want to be that way.If I ask a foolish question,I am a fool for once and if I dont I will be a fool for whole life!(Not saying that the quetion here is a foolish one.It is  just a quetion and someone might not have the knowledge of it.)Please refrain from posting these kind of comments if you dont have anything positive to contribute.

I really like brother KTL's answer.Just one line but says everything.

I'm not sure what your talking about brother as my comment was intended for Ghulam and his constant ridicule of other users, who by the way do ask a valid question.

Edit: Ah his comment has been removed and thus you didn't notice that my post was intended for brother Ghulam and not the thread initiator. Appologies and Jummah Mubarak to you !

Totaly agree, most certainly such questions should be discussed in 'sister's corner'. And If brothers wish they should have their discussion separetly in 'brother's corner'.
