To act upon does not mean to act on cancelled hadith. If one hadith is cancelled then not to act on that will be acting on hadith which cancells that. So Whatever prophet (pbuh) ordered, to act upon that is acting upon on hadith. If prophet cancelled one hadith, then not acting on that will be obey the porphet(pbuh) again thus obey the latest hadith. So ahle hadith is supposed to act on authenticated hadiths.

Hadith which are cancelled are clear in hadith book. So to be a proper ahle-hadith one is to acting on authenticated hadith and leave cancelled one. This is what prophet (pbuh) wnats from us. He does not want us to act on cancelled hadith. So if you follow him i.e his sunnah, and that is in fact from hadith (you dont get sunnah in dreams).

The difference is not that one is acting according to sunnah and one is acting accoring to hadith because both are same. Real difference is that a common sunni will not act on hadith if it is against his imam way. So for a sunni who are muqalad too preferences go to imam and not the hadith.

Visted your referred video about taqleed. Scholar was emphasing on taqleed. Do taqleed to understand the sharaia as Imams put their best efforts to teach us. He mentioned Imam Azam met 8 sahaba. He got 80 hadiths. But 80 ahadeeth can not cover all the ahkam-e-deen. So hadith collection after him have thousand of hadith which Imam azam did not have. So if any thing is not as per hadith, we should go with hadith and not the Imam.
But here is the problem. Maqalad will prefer Imam qool over hadith which is not acceptable by true believers. Even himself mentioed that if his qool is not as per any hadith, leave the qool and take the hadith but mqalad are ready to accept his this advise and will reamin abid the imam qool and leave the hadith and that is the problem.

He mentioned all other imams were student of other imams and top one was student of Imam Abu Hanifa. Now these students learnt from Imam, then they have their own research, within additional 100+ years they were able to access more hadiths so why not to listen to them and just stick with one Imam only. If Imam Abu Hanifa did not get hadith about one issue and later Imams got that, why to reject it reasoning "we are muqalads". And even prophet (pbuh) advised to consult quran and sunnah in case of any dispute but maqalad will only go to Imam and not care about quran/hadith. How this can be right?
