I see the Hadiths to learning Allah swts names, but I don't see Hadiths about reciting a Particular name, in order to gain/lose something in life. Please could you explain, how these are at all possible. Did Prophet pbuh say that if we read a certain name of Allah swt, that this will happen or that will happen. Or are there Ayahs in Al-Quran that say this. Please forgive me for my ignorance. I am just very intrigued, and have not had any luck in finding this all out so far, but Insha'Allah ta'ala you can, as you've provided a weblink for it.

Just to give a very short response with one of the evidences - in the Qur'an when certain duas are made or in certain topics, Allah ties it with a particular name. This is also the case in many hadith du'as (masnoon duas). These are no coincidences. Some of these are obvious, for example invoking names of Ghaffaar, Tawwaab, 'Afoow when asking for forgiveness, or Razzaaq with regards to sustenance and provision. Others are not so immediately obvious and scholars of the science have deduced benefits from each of the names.

Having said that - I would be interested in the SOURCE of the above? I, personally, would not accept it before I know that. What you asked is a fair question, barakAllah feek, as many a time it is difficult to see the link and we need to know where our info comes from. I still do not accept some because I just can't see any Qur'anic basis, for example you get those Alims on TV who people phone in and ask questions, and they tell you to recite 1000 Ya Fatimah's after each namaaz or something like that... I'm a sceptic at heart and there are still traces of Salafiyyah inside me... I do always want some kind of 'daleel..! *Sigh*.

I'm not sure what Sect I belong to, nor have I taken enough time out to discover it. Just barely get the basics done, but insh'Allah ta'ala I will eventually find out what all those sects are about.. (eventually ya)

Yes I think from my part I have done ample research enough to see that no such thing is in Hadith or Qu'ranic verses as far as my knowledge is concerned. But saying that, I have in the past used the names of Allah swt for my own benefit and did see some ease/comfort. Either by them, or some short duas I recited along side them.

So yes, insha'Allah the OP could shed light on the matter soon. It would bring much needed rest to this questioning mind of mine
