One thing is apparent amongst the Asian community, be it Pakistani or otherwise, that no matter how religious we become we can't let go of two things (something very apprarent on this messageboard too, the level of intolerance is astonishing)

1) To mind our own business about anothers religious beliefs or practices

2) To be judgemental about other Muslims and force our opinion on them

I would like to ask what is it about our genetic make up or otherwise which makes us INTOLERABLE and FORCEFUL.

It's in the South Asian blood to wage wars.
Joke. :hehe:

Allahu Alam why it is.

Just a quick few questions.

Do you suffer from inferiority complex? Are you the type of person who is Asian but "wants to be" Arab? Or are you generalising because you are a racist?

Shadhili to answer a question with a question is not an answer.

But I will answer them.

Do I have an inferiority complex? can you be more specific what type of complex are we talking about here?

Do I want to be an Arab? I'm not sure I even get that question. I'm quite happy being an asian since it is my identity, although my lineage is from Prophet Mohammed SAWW

Am I racist? Whatever gave you that idea, is it because you feel I am generalising, which means you disagree with my observations in which case it'll be nice to know on what basis you disagree with me?

I think it was either Waris shah or Bulleh Shah who said that 'you may have read many books but have you ever read yourself' self-criticism is a good thing it allows one to progress. I guess that is all I am doing.

Thats because south asia has more dawah-related organizations then any other part of the world. Be it wahabi or brewali organizations (tablighi jamat or dawat e islami and numerous sub-organizations) - these organizations are specifically created to spread a certain version of 'islam' upon whole humanity, and that is not possible unless the members of such organizations are trained and brainwashed to force their opinion onto others, thinking themselves as more holier and most correct then everyone else who does not belong to such organizations.

Without this mindset, there wont be any 'dawah' to muslims, there wont be no organization.

That's a pretty conceited remark there.
Instead of addressing the question, you question her motives? Pah.

Anyway I remember a conversation in university where a couple of brothers were talking about cultures and stuff... and someone asked 'What's Arab culture?'

Someone else joked, 'Tajweed? And praying 5 times a day, probably.'

I guess it may not find funny to many here. But I giggled. xD

We are an uncultivated bunch, everything else i'd say on this would be highly offensive to those that can't see beyonf the end of their snooty noses.

Assalamu alaikum,

Hmm not entirely sure how it all started but at the present moment it's mainly being passed down the generation. If the atmosphere in your house is such where your parents tend to pick on others and this goes on for most of your growth stages, then more chances there is for childrens to pick them up and make comments inappropriatly just because they weren't stopped but actually encouraged in a way when getting in such conversations with parents.

Slowly, this sticks with them when they grow up and start making friends with certain viewpoint, they tend to become narrow-minded and anything done apart from their ways seem inappropriate. The bonus is when its something got to do religion so they can use remarks such as "astagfirullah" or "la hawla wa la quwata" just to back them up,i.e. a shield, even though its just meaningless and pushes people away.

But I would say for once, the metality is changing slowly but surely alhumdulillah. Lets pray for the ummah everytime we raise our hands and stop whomever we can partaking in backbiting.

I had no knowledge of bowing (Ruku). What did I know about prostration? Was I in search of your footprints or was I prostrating in prayer..Strange is my life and my servitude

Wherever I found your footprints I made it my direction

Adhrikni Ya RasoolAllah (sallalahu alaihi wasalam)
