My Dear Islamic Brothers and Sisters,

Mubarak to all of the Ummah on this auspicious new year. May Allah Azzawajal guide through this year in every moment of our lives. May He Azzawajal grant us teh depth to realise the error of our ways and the strength to coorect them. May He Azzawajal make us Maaf for all our sins of the past and grant us death with Imaan and may He Azzwajal grant all the marhoom jannatul firdous. Aameen.

As a parent on the days coming to the 1st Muharram, I felt such disappointment and lack of preparation for the New year coming. We all are made so aware of the Christian New year, firework displays can be seen in our own Islamic countries ( I have winessed it in Dubai), celebrations are held, New year barbecue... But what do we do to celebrate the coming of our New year. So I took the ball in my hands and made my home exciting by firstly sending my boys to Maghrib salaah, we all went out to site the moon, we made our special Nafil Salaah and told the story of Karbala. This is how I believe we should welcome OUR NEw Year with OUR children so that 1st Muharram becomes a night to remember and notthe  New year's Eve and the its  final countdown.
