Everybody was so caught up in the drama, that they failed to engange their brain and be patient, completely ignoring that this 'Notice' was the handiwork of third party maligners or simply confused individuals again trying to dictate to others what we should be thinking, typical muslim mentality.
We've all witnessed the ignominy of the Yanabi community in jumping on this so called official notice and then certain members even going onto other websites to stir more drama and continue to publicise the whole sorry affair!
The siege mentality is unnecessary, scholars or forums are not being pursued but the topic at hand is.
The siege mentality is neccesary for some people because it gives them a feeling of power, as being a part in the sum gives them stregnth and power beyond what they could hope to ever attain on their own!
Though true for everyone, certain mureeds are riding this bandwagon far harder than any sane and rational person would think suitable!

Sheikh Mohammed Al-Yaqoobi and Sheikh Hamza Yusuf have spoken out against the use of forums and blogs. there is an updated version of this notice containing references from the Quran and Hadith.
I spoke personally to Pir Sufi Riaz Ahmad Sahib before posting that notice. Too much has happened which has forced us to issue the notice. Allah knows best. Maybe he did speak to Sufi Riaz Sahib but he doesn't anywhere say he was told to put up the notice by him.

Also, who are 'us'? Are you a representative of Shaykh Riaz? Do you speak for them? Or simply surmising from your conversations, that Shaykh Riaz fully endorses the notice that you posted wrod for word?!
