Same here. Because i believe i don't have alot of knowledge of Islam, i'd rather not participate in some topics in case i say something completely wrong. This forum has become a site where i can learn from other people's knowledge so thanks for that! In terms of creating a new topic, some questions, issues i want resolved or help have been provided previously so i check out older posts.

Salamun alaikum,

I fear I will be becoming a silent reader from now on. My voice has been silenced by Imran, I am not allowed to post from a tafseer I use regularly, and I cannot prove a point without quoting Quran to you.

I used to be silent but became very active recently because I felt empassioned by some of the people on the site. Those of you who have read my posts will know that I am not sunni. I do not hold the same values as almost 99% of people on this site do, but I am here to learn, to grow in knowledge, or rather WAS I should say, after all we all have the SAME quran.

The issues I have come to hate are:
1) Being called a qadiani, a wahabi, a chakrelwi, a parwezi, a qurani, a kafir even.
2) Having posts I worked VERY hard to research deleted because they did not agree with the viewpoint of the mod.
3) If someone thinks I am wrong - PROVE your opinion, I always like to provide evidence from the Quran to backup my point of view.
4) People ask senseless questions which have no basis and no reason for someone to know.
5) General hatred for people with different opinions.

Its all driven by fear and anger. These are the tools of the devil (I would quote, but I can't because of my injunction :crazy.

So, all in all, thank you for those who have had the patience to read through my sometimes lengthy posts. Thank you for those who have corrected my views and thank you to those who have affirmed my viewpoint that some people are like trains on a track, they can never change direction or stop even if they see a precipice, they just look the other way.

Peace and God bless
d

Welcome to the darkside

May Allah increase my enviers.

I am very close to becoming a silent reader due to a mod locking my thread "YaNabi.com A Brailvi Site?" for no justifiable reason and then failing to reply to my second private message (not mentioning any names). And then getting your posts deleted because some individual mods simply didn't like it. I think behaviour like this from mods discourage people from contributing.

I can't understand this sudden wave of discomfort about moderators when this community has existed for so many years. Why is the mentioned topic so important to you? What are you trying to achieve and which part of your communication has been hampered. Please elaborate.....

Classification of this community is not up for a referendum.

Tahir Riaz (20.02.2010)

I can't understand this sudden wave of discomfort about moderators when this community has existed for so many years.

Once one starts showing disagreement about a moderator/s, another gets courage to do the same and so now there is a sudden wave with people displaying their disagreements about the moderators and their moderating. Alhamdulillah I think we have got some excellent moderators on board. Of course, there are always going to be a minority now and then who don't agree with the decisions moderators may take so don't worry about it brother.

Didn't want to achieve anything, just wanted a reply and now you've given me one. Don't really need to elaborate, if you read it you'd understand. I haven't got a sudden discomfort for moderators, just contributing. What's worg with a bit of constructive feedback. Chill out.

Yeah I see where you're coming from... NOT! It's got nothing to do with courage or a "sudden wave"!?!? I can see what you're indirectly trying to imply though. You want them to stamp "it" (whatever "it " is) out before "it" grows. I really think you're taking a very childish role in this.

Actually, I never implied that I wanted them to "stamp it". Everyone is entitled to their own opinion brother and you are entitled to yours. If you have an issue with certain moderators then insha'Allah inform brother Tahir on here or by PM. JazakAllah Khair

If you have already made your point and there is nothing more to add then I don't see why you should be annoyed by the thread being locked.

Even though people policing this space have done that for YEARS, it is of course impossible to remain 100% impartial all the time. Our personal preferences is naturally a part of the decision making and yes, it can sometimes be unjustified.

Dimensions of a diverse community as ours are no different from realties of real life. You can't expect everyone to be nice, you can't expect everyone to understand and share your passion. Disagreement and arguments is a natural phoneme amongst people who share and discuss elements of interest. I think it's unfair to hold whole community as hostage just because of arguments with particular users.

Just some days ago I got a pm from an old member saying: Today is my last day on YaNabi.com.  As usual some days later I see him participating as before.  Sometimes people are provoked into doing something they normally wouldn't do. Let's all us keeping mind the human element even though we can't see the person behind the keyboard.
