Answer:

Walaikum assalam,

In general, this [i.e. the mawlid being a bid`a] is not the position taken by the Arab Hanafi (or other Arab Sunni) scholars. The difference is one of methodology.

One way of looking at it is that the difference is not very real at the academic level, insofar as the major Deobandi ulema explain their stance of regarding it as an innovation being because of the impermissible factors and circumstances related to the actual celebration.

However, at a functional level, the Deobandis have a different focus and set of things they emphasize, which arise out of their understanding of needs and priorities. It is a matter of understanding and outlook. One may disagree, but we should (ALL) accept the right of others to disagree with us too, in a spirit of love and brotherhood.

It also relates to what they perceive of as an imbalance in focus among the masses, whether primary essential religious obligations and duties are treated with laxity or even disregard, and secondary non-essential matters (such as the Mawlid, istighatha, etc) are given undue attention. This imbalance is itself a dangerous and most serious innovation, they say.

May Allah be well pleased with all the scholars of the Sunni path, and benefit us from their example, teachings, and barakaat.

important question about zakat?

I have a question about zakat

If husband has money that is over the nisab and he is elligble to pay zakat and also the wife she has no money but gold which is less than 7 tola and is less than the nisab. Does the husband have to pay zakat for his money too and also for the wifes gold too even though it is less than 7 tola. or does the wife gold count as separate as her gold is her own.

and also if just say husband has around £500 and that is less than nisab but wife has gold that is also less than nisab, do they then have to give zakat as both of them total more than nisab.

they both similar questions. its just confusing. some people say that both husband and wife count as one so even husband has £100 saving for a year but wife has gold that is lil bit less than nisab but since husband has £100 then all together its over the nisab and they have to pay zakat but some people say no they count as separate and wifes gold is separate and as long as its not over the nisab then she dnt have to pay zakat and husband has to just pay for his saving. that is if they are over the nisab.

I also do not agree with his approach with common knowledge given to him which I THOUGHT was known by both scholar and laymen alike and rather goes for his own opinions, views and "logic".

Now I don't intend to offend anyone. I know some people like calling themselves "Brailvi", and that's cool. Well to the point: when you search for YaNabi.com on Google, you get YaNabi.com, and then like all other sites you get a short description of the site underneath the site link. YaNabi.com's description is 'Offers articles and e-books presenting Islam from a Brailvi perspective. Also includes audio resources, a forum, and prayer time calculator." Now I believe I'm right when I say, this is not really a "Brailvi" kind of site, I mean there are obviously some users who swear by the "Brailvi" way of doing things (over the top and single minded) and are free to do so, but most users are open minded, calm and considerate people. Now in no way am I trying to attack anyone, and when I say "Brailvi" I obviously don't mean Ala Hadhrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan RadhiAllah anhu and the people who dearly respect him and follow his teachings, I mean the paki nut cases. It's just a thought but woudn't it be better if you put 'Sunni perspective' or something else, I mean you're all more inteligent and experienced than me so I'm sure you could think of something attractive and inviting. The truth is, when people here "Brailvi" they turn around and run, well from my experience anyway. The "Brailvi" trend is coming to an end and wasn't really a big thing anyway, I think this site is a lot more than a site showing the "Brailvi" perspective on Islam.

It's just a thought anyway, I'm not saying change it or anything, I'm just getting my view across because obviously this forum is doing well as it is mashAllah.

I was reading one of the topics in this section and remembered a feedback system at a site I was once a Moderator at used. It seemed to work quite well, so I thought I’d post it here.

The site itself is not related to Islam in anyway, but I don’t see why this should be an issue in the first place. During peak times, the site had hundreds of people logged in and viewing the forum with new posts coming in by the minute. Which basically means, the system would be usable here.

Before I go into the specifics of the feedback section itself, it must be known to the current staff that in order for this system to work as it should, you must be willing take on a small amount of extra work. This includes the following:

- Every time a member is given a warning or has a post edited/deleted, you must PM him or her stating what you have done and why you have done it.
- A bit more time actual “modding” the forum

With that being said, here goes.

The Moderator feedback section will facilitate all inquiries, concerns, feedbacks, and complaints about the Yanabi teams Moderating staff's actions (or inaction).

An example of a typical complaint would be:

Staff Name: Tahir

Issue: He deleted my topic
Remarks: I’d like to know why he did it because it took me very long to type this up!

The above should be pinned as an example and the same format should be used to voice all complaints.

The section would also have some specific rules of it’s own as well. Some of these would be:

- If you do not understand the reason for one of your warnings or think it is unfair in some way, at least attempt to ask the moderator that warned you via PM about it, if you still really think it was unfair, or if you simply just don't understand a reply, then you can post here about it.
- Make sure your complaints/concerns are about SPECIFIC moderating actions (not personal issues or discussions) We don’t want people posting a complaint just because they don’t like a particular moderator.
- There should be a few nominated Moderators/Admins to monitor this section. These people are the only ones authorized to give [b]official statements[/b], unless they state they confirm another moderator's statement.

Finally I’d like to say that this system will probably get abused somewhat. I don’t think there is any getting away from that, but I think the benefits outweigh the bad points. Also, this is an Islamic website, so I think the likelihood of absolute nonsense being posted is decreased compared to a general forum. You would be surprised to see how many jokers there are who post rubbish and actually think it’s cool.

First I must thank Mr R P Singh for introducing me to Munir Khan and after that in the past few days I have been doing my own research on this self proclaimed scientist.

I think if there is any title that can be awarded to this cheating soul would be the Fraud Master General of India, I think Admanya should start giving out this title which is very much fitting for our country.

Now let's get back to Munir, he calls himself a doctor and alsoa scientist, he claims to have cured 12,000 patients suffering from all "all non-curable disease like cancer, Brain Tumor, Thyroid, Heart Blockages etc." and he is the hope for India to become a developed country as the world will be full of cancer patients and his medicine will earn Forex for the country.

He has two websites namely cancercurable.com and heartcurable.com which contains some foolish claims backed by totally irrational and cock and bull logic written in butler English. He runs a clinic in Mumbai (Versova, Andheri West) and if you call him at the number given at website, he will hardly ask anything except for a demand draft of cheque of Rs 15,000 to send his medicine which will cure cancer through "urine, stool and vomit".

He puts some blogs here and there and the claims are, "It cures 100% cancer and all non-curable diseases and there is no mark of these diseases in patients after using this medicine.This medicine is a result of 3 decades vigorous hardwork of Scientist Dr Munir Khan. This medicine doesn't have any side effects."

But the most unfortunate thing is that a TV channel called Care World carries out a 30 minute program everyday with a host called Tabassum who lobs, volleys and showers praises on Dr Munir Khan, and runs some interview clippings only praising his work without giving any material data about the medicine but repeating endlessly in a telemarketing style that the "cancer will be completely cured after taking few doses of Body Revive".

I called up Munir Khan's office and inquired whether he has any medical qualifications, whether he has displayed those in his office, whether his medicine displays it's formula or composition on the label, etc but as expected they were abusive.

Obviously he is a charlatan. He is fleecing gullible people by charging Rs. 15000 for one bottle of herbal concoction.

Now comes the most starting thing, if these photos are true as it is displayed in his website, he is seen receiving award from Union Health Minister Ramadoss (2005), Uttaranchal Health Minister Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal (2008) and Mr Harbansh Kapoor, MP (2008). Now a crook who claims to have discovered a medicine that cures all non-curable diseases and who is a messiah as predicted by Nostradumas (refer to MR R P Singh's blog where the advertisement was printed in Mr Arindam Chaudhuri's magazine Sunday Indian) is being endorsed by these people as named in Munir Khan's website.

I think Admanyacs should do whatever possible in their power and influence to get this fraud exposed, I can't simply understand why these crooks are allowed to carry on cheating and I am sure there is a long money trail.

Let's please investigate as citizen journalist, we cal call his office, mail and gather evidence and then send to the union and state governments, let us also try to contact some patients who have received medicine from Munir Khan, if we try we can really do something.

His email as published in his site is munirkhan@cancercurable.com and telephone numbers are + 91 92233 29467, 022 30506373 - 84 (12 lines), let's gather evidence and document it as blog and I am sure all of us will be proud for the good work.

Please also try to send this blog to all your freinds and let the pressure be built up. We want not only investigations against Munir Khan but also his endorsers including Care World TV.

100 complaints to Blackburn police over early morning religious event

RELIGIOUS chanting kept scores of Blackburn residents awake in the early hours of this morning.

Police received more than 100 calls from people complaining about the noise coming from a Muslim festival attended by 400 people which was taking place near Blackburn Crematorium.

The event, which took place between 11.45pm and 2am, is an annual occasion but this was the first time a PA system had been used.

Local resident Oliver Smalley, 24, said: "I was in bed and I could hear the noise outside with the window shut.

"I drove down towards Pleasington Cemetery and saw about 15 to 20 residents outside all complaining about the noise.”

When police arrived at the scene they instructed that the PA system should be turned down due to the complaints and the organisers did so immediately.

A spokesman for Lancashire police said: “Officers attended the cemetery, which was the setting for a religious evening, and asked the organisers to switch off the loud speaker system.

"The organisers fully co-operated with the request and the remainder of the event passed without incident.”

Councillor Salim Mulla, who arranges for the cemetery gates to be opened every year for the festival, said: “There is no need whatsoever for them to be speaking so loud on a PA system.”

The use of the site was fully permitted by the council but there was no mention of a PA system.

An investigation is now being carried out by the Lancashire Council of Mosques to determine how it was allowed to happen.

Maullana Rashid, of Dav Islami, the Accrington-based organisers, said: “We were unaware of how loud we were.

"Once we got the complaint we turned the speaker down to the point where some people at the back of the gathering couldn’t hear.”

i think, now that Alhumdulillah we are probably spread far & wide, covering many many cities across the globe,
