i quote the part of the hadith relevant to this topic:

قَالَ قُلْتُ أَصْلَحَكَ اللَّهُ فَمَا حَالُ الْمُوَحِّدِينَ الْمُقِرِّينَ بِنُبُوَّةِ مُحَمَّدٍ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ الْمُذْنِبِينَ الَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ إِمَامٌ وَ لَا يَعْرِفُونَ وَلَايَتَكُمْ فَقَالَ أَمَّا هَؤُلَاءِ فَإِنَّهُمْ فِي حُفْرَتِهِمْ لَا يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْهُمْ لَهُ عَمَلٌ صَالِحٌ وَ لَمْ يُظْهِرْ مِنْهُ عَدَاوَةً فَإِنَّهُ يُخَدُّ لَهُ خَدٌّ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ الَّتِي خَلَقَهَا اللَّهُ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ فَيَدْخُلُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْهَا الرُّوحُ فِي حُفْرَتِهِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيَلْقَى اللَّهَ فَيُحَاسِبُهُ بِحَسَنَاتِهِ وَ سَيِّئَاتِهِ فَإِمَّا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَ إِمَّا إِلَى النَّارِ فَهَؤُلَاءِ مَوْقُوفُونَ لِأَمْرِ اللَّهِ قَالَ وَ كَذَلِكَ يَفْعَلُ اللَّهُ بِالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ وَ الْبُلْهِ وَ الْأَطْفَالِ وَ أَوْلَادِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا الْحُلُمَ فَأَمَّا النُّصَّابُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقِبْلَةِ فَإِنَّهُمْ يُخَدُّ لَهُمْ خَدٌّ إِلَى النَّارِ الَّتِي خَلَقَهَا اللَّهُ فِي الْمَشْرِقِ فَيَدْخُلُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْهَا اللَّهَبُ وَ الشَّرَرُ وَ الدُّخَانُ وَ فَوْرَةُ الْحَمِيمِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ثُمَّ مَصِيرُهُمْ إِلَى الْحَمِيمِ ثُمَّ فِي النَّارِ يُسْجَرُونَ ثُمَّ قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ أَيْنَ إِمَامُكُمُ الَّذِي اتَّخَذْتُمُوهُ دُونَ الْإِمَامِ الَّذِي جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَاماً .

this hadith is from al-kafi volume 3 page 246

basically the companion asked the imam as: what about those people from muslims who are muwahhideen who die without an imam and don't kn ow your wilayat ?? the imam answered : : as for those if they did good and there was no enmity displayed(towards ahlbait(as) ) they will stay ion their tomb and there a window to paradise will be opened for them and the spirit eneters their toms till the day of judgement and then they meet allah and they will be judged according to their deeds ...so is the case of the weak and mentally-ill and kids and the children of muslims who didnt reach puperty , as for nawasib(those who display enmity towards ahlbait) from people of qiblah then a window to hell will be opened for them ..till the day of judgement then they will be thrown in hell

the sanad of this hadith is as follows :

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ جَمِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رِئَابٍ عَنْ ضُرَيْسٍ الْكُنَاسِيِّ

from a number of our people from ahmed ibn muhammed AND sahl ibn ziad AND ali ibn ibrahim from his father all of them from ibn mahboob from ali ibn ri'aab from dhurais al-kunassi(ra) from abu jaafar(as)

so the sanad is extremely sahih

please don't believe the liars who say that shia declare takfeer takfeer upon sunnis < yes there's some scholars are extremists and they consider sunnis muslim in this life and kaffir in the hereafter like al-khoei and otehrs who consider whoever prefers shaikhain to ali(as) kaffir and nasibi but these are extreme views and contradict the words of rasool allah and imams(as) .

i reject anyone who does takfeer upon sunnis especially ahs'aris and maturidi(who are majority of ahl-sunnah) and also other muslims , i refuse this from the bottom of my heart .

but nawasib i don't care about them and they are our enemies and must be considered the enemies of sunnis as well .

i have a view that some might not like : i am against unity between shia and sunnis at this stage and NO i am not contradicting myself but i am realistic : unity must be on solid basis not on the basis of worldly interest , if unity is not under the banner of "la ilaha illa allah" then it's fake. i think shia and sunnis must learn about each other more and reject the wicked scholars from both sides and fear Allah and stop accusing each others wrongly and when they start thinking the best of each others as muwahhid and when most shia leave their ghulu and ignorance and most sunnis reject a lot of falsehood then unity is possible.

Assalaamu Aleykum Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Before 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, we should all try to send 1 million Durood Shareef on Prophet Muhammad (Salallahu Aleyhi Wasallam).

Today is Tuesday 29th December 2009 and we have approximately 9 weeks left (1 month and 29 days) till the blessed birth date of Prophet Muhammad (Salallahu Aleyhi Wasallam).

Till Friday 19th February 2010 (DEADLINE EXTENDED), everyone should post and let me know how much Durood Shareef they are willing to send to Prophet Muhammad (Salallahu Aleyhi Wasallam). After that, Insha'Allah Azzwajal, I will take whatever is left to complete 1 million, Insha'Allah Azzwajal.

I am setting this deadline so that we can easily complete 1 million Durood Shareef.

About your site . The shia section makes the claim of falsehoods in shiite beliefs . Have you read them ?

As far as the dialog for the quest of truth is concerned . Well why do we need it? We seem like 2 mature people who understand each other .

Oh Muslims!

We believe it is not the time right now to argue about different opinions and different schools of thought. It is not the time now to be in the same web which the Ummah (Muslim Population) and mankind are falling into.

It’s not the time to try to achieve any goals according to sharia'h (Islamic Law), unless we develop our faith and the reality of our deen (way of life) first.

We want to be able to go to Allah and say:

"O’Allah we are trying to spread your Mercy! O’Allah we are trying to avoid being the cause of fitna'h (tribulations)."

Well, we embraced this message because this message doesn’t belong to any group, ideology, hezb, jama'a, Sheikh or anyone.

This message is basically toward the reality of going back to Allah.

As a first step may Allah allow us to continue until we reach the end by His will, tawfeeq (ability/permission), light, wisdom and power. Allah promises the victory to the believers.

"We believe we have to spread the peaceful message, the real message: the one that can offset the distortion, the violence, and the misunderstandings of today."

We believe people have to see, feel, and know the true message of Islam away from political agendas of violence, terrorism and misconception.

First we believe people have to hear the message the way it is and then, if Allah the Almighty, the Creator, showers you with the truth, the light, the wisdom, and the vision, He will allow you to do whatever pleases Him.

We are not an organization, we are not affiliated to anyone, and we are not calling for anything except for the belief and the Mercy of the Creator.

We are trying to save mankind (both Muslims and non Muslim) from the torture of the Creator and to bring them to His mercy and pleasure.

The whole purpose of this thread is all university students can post what university they go to and InshAllah eventually all students will find Sunnis they can have as friends and work together positively in making the situation at their university more promising.

I was just wondering, is it possible that sects were allowed by Allah swt in order to test and build the akhlaaq of those of us whom interact with each other?

I don't know if there are any famous traditions on the subject. Please let me know if there are.

However, it seems to me that there must be a reason that some handle the existence of different sects of Islam with anger and even violence, whereas others handle it with love and kindness? People who would bomb a mosque, or just have a website with rude words spoken are just as accountable for their deeds as those who try to build bridges and embrace all who say la ilaha il allah muhammadan rasulallah as if they were their own brother, not being angered by differences in secondary issues. Unfortunately the latter category gets a lot less attention. Is it just because people pay more attention to what is loud and crass or because people are really more angry and violent nowadays?

Alhamdulillah. Even posting on this site, for me, as a shia, has improved my akhlaaq in ways I would not have guessed. Maybe it is a result of focusing on the positive attributes of people who have different opinions and practices than myself. I recommend to anyone who wishes to improve their etiquette, to seek out believers of other sects and try not to argue with them or become angry and try to give them the benefit of the doubt. It has even made my own severely deficient etiquette improve slightly, alhamdulilah.

"....But as for the people of guidance and religion, the religious scholars and those who follow the Sufi path, since they rely upon truth and reality, and each of them on the road of truth thinks only of his Sustainer and trusts in His succour, they derive dignity from their belief. When they feel weakness, they turn not toward men, but toward God and seek help from Him. On account of difference in outlook, they feel no real need for the aid of the one whose outlook apparently opposes their own, and see no need for agreement and unity. Indeed, if obstinacy and egoism are present, one will imagine himself to be right and the other to be wrong; discord and rivalry take the place of concord and love. Thus sincerity is chased away and its function disrupted.

Now the only remedy for the critical consequences of this awesome state consists of Nine Commands:

1. To act positively, that is, out of love for one’s own outlook, [b]avoiding enmity for other outlooks, not criticizing them, interfering in their beliefs and sciences,[/b] or in any way concerning oneself with them.

2. [b]To unite within the fold of Islam[/b], irrespective of particular outlook, remembering those numerous ties of unity that evoke love, brotherhood and concord.

3. To adopt the just rule of conduct that the follower of any right outlook has [b]the right to say, “My outlook is true, or the best,” but not that “My outlook alone is true,” or that “My outlook alone is good,”[/b] thus implying the falsity or repugnance of all other outlooks.

4. To consider that [b]union with the people of truth[/b] is a cause of Divine succour and the high dignity of religion.

5. To realize that the individual resistance of the most powerful person against the attacks through its genius of the mighty collective force of the people of misguidance and falsehood, which arises from their solidarity, will inevitably be defeated, and through the union of the people of truth, to create a joint and collective force also, in order to preserve justice and right in the face of that fearsome collective force of misguidance.

6. In order to preserve truth from the assaults of falsehood,

7. To abandon the self and its egoism,

8. And give up the mistaken concept of self-pride,

9. And cease from all insignificant feelings aroused by rivalry.

If this ninefold rule is adhered to, sincerity will be preserved and its function perfectly performed..."

PESHAWAR: Weeks after the Rehman Baba shrine was destroyed in Peshawar, another mausoleum in Peshawar’s Regi area was the scene of a brutal attack.

DawnNews quoted police as saying that the shrine of Sheikh Omar Baba was completely destroyed when it was attacked by militants early in the morning on Friday.

Police sources said the militants came to the area before blowing up the shrine and fled the scene when police opened fire at them, only to return again to obliterate the shrine with heavy explosives.

According to eye witnesses the militants shifted religious books and Qurans from the shrine to the nearby mosque before the explosion.

In another development a market was blown up in Adezai Area of Peshawar, destroying some 25 shops.

According to the Mattni police, targeting the market has become commonplace, and a group of long-active local militants was likely behind the incident.

No casualties have been reported so far.

Why do we have to stop our practices which date longer than there sects, why do we get approached and say that we have to unite with them, when they dont want to unite. Why dont these people just go to x,y,z sect and ask them to unite with the Ahl Sunnah wal Jamah.

islam is being hijacked by suicide bombers,saudis wahabs are trying to brainwash the youth, and we arguing with one another

i might find one pir easier to understand than another, doesnt mean the other is not good.

we need to stop arguing between ourselves and unite, the closer we all become the more we can achieve

its just sad seeing some of the threads and replies sometimes

It is a worrying situation to be honest because organising local militia against the Wahhâbîs was also carried out by Sunnîs in NWFP against the Taliban. Local militia are predominantly ordinary untrained people taking up arms. Whilst this is a nobel act, it can’t fight a well-trained force. The Somali Wahhâbîs like the Taliban are an organised army getting funding and weopens from rich foreign Wahhabis abroad. Just as the Taliban overran the Sunnî militias in NWFP, the Somali Wahhâbîs will eventually overrun the Ahlus-Sunna Wal-Jama`a Warriors of Somalia group. Fortunately in Pakistan, there is an army and government in place which was ready to fight them. Who will do this in Somalia?

For example, she reports a religious edict issued by him, fatawa-wa-masa’il, in which [Abdul Wahab] discussed the actions of a close Companion of the Prophet, Abu Bakr Radi Allahu anhuHz Abu Bakr Radi Allahu anhu had been the first caliph of the Islamic community, and during his tenure (see The Political Careers of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs), had established the practice of the caliph serving as a paid guardian over the people. Ibn Abdul Wahhab expressed vehement disagreement with the decision saying that Abu Bakr Radi Allahu anhu had mis-applied vague Quranic verses to justify the ruling. The last accusation is particularly ironic, since Abu Bakr Radi Allahu anhu was so famous for his honesty that he was nicknamed The Truthful. Nevertheless, Ibn Abdul Wahhab’s harsh criticism of Abu Bakr Radi Allahu anhu is a radical departure from the reverence that mainstream Muslims typically have of the Companions of the Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam.

Whoever speaks well of the Companions of the Messenger Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam of Allah, his chaste wives, and his purified progeny is absolved of hypocrisy. The pious scholars of the past and those after them who follow their path- the people of goodness and tradition, of understanding and profound scholarship- should be mentioned only in the best manner. Anyone who speaks ill of them has deviated from the path.

There has been a lot of questions on this forum about who is actually the Ahles Sunna Wal Jama'ah ? There is a lot of accusation stating that the Deobondi's are not Ahles Sunna and other groups are excluded also.

Can a knowledgeable person please clarify and define who is from Sunna Wal Jama'ah ? and what would cause someone to be out of this group ?

References would be good.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَرَّقُواْ دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُواْ شِيَعًا لَّسْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُمْ إِلَى اللّهِ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا كَانُواْ يَفْعَلُونَ

Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects (all kinds of religious sects), you (O Muhammad SAW) have no concern in them in the least. (Al An-Aam159).

salaam aleikum to all my Muslims Brothers and Sisters!

We would like to organise an event where speakers from both schools of thought (shia and sunni) can discuss what we have in common and strive for unity.

They should touch on Prayers, spirituality, strving to become better muslims, promoting the good etc.

The speakers will touch on areas which we all believe in and stress on the concept of unity. nothing more.

This will not be a debate but a discussion to understand our common grounds.

After their main short speech.

The speakers will inshallah be open to questions to which they will reply to. This will be monitored to ensure respect is observed at all times. The aim is to understand eachother and inshallah the step global unity between shia and sunnis will become sucessfull.

Are there any knowledgable people here that can speak on behalf of the Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaat? I must stress this is not to PROVE one belief but to discuss and understand where we are coming from.

Most likely this will be arranged in Birmingham, UK, venue to be confirmed.

My Dear Islamic Brothers,

There has been lots of posts that has caused our mods to lock the topic. I would be very appreciative if we can put our heads together in understanding and helping HOW WE CAN GET BROTHERS in masjids TO PERFORM namaz in jamaat. I am not sure how it is going in your masjids ..... but was listening to a lecture by one of sunnis ilam who was saying that MAsha AlLah we are on the right path and those who do not follow Ahle Sunnat-ul jamaat are ahead of us today ..... their clothers .... their appearance ..... their character

Is it possible for us to do some homework and get this working .... in our society. I urge Sweet Mizet ...sister who had recently worked hard in arranging something postive .... to make a change in society ..... to work harder with the team she has and work ideas ..... for getting muslims united. At present sunnis are splitting.

May ALlah Az'zawajal give eus strenght to work hard and make difference in this world for our hereafter .... our work might not seem so good at present .... but sincerity and good actions will take us far ..... waiting for your kind responses.

Working hard in Australia .... to make a mark for Ahle Sunnat-ul jammat .... but there are many obstacles that come in ..... what are the ways .... your thoughts .......

Don't Call Yourself a Sunni/Shia

What is the best way to achieve unity amongst the Muslims? A good start is to stop fueling sects by saying that you are "Sunni" or "Shia" or "Salafi" or "Sufi", etc etc

3:103 in the Quran clearly says to not be divided.
6:159 in the Quran clearly says that anyone who creates division in Islam has nothing to do with Allah.

Making sects in Islam is clearly haraam

.And being a part of such sects helps fuel them and may even be considered haraam, depending on how far you take it

That's like being a brewer, despite thinking that alcohol is haraam
