So I opened it, and it was a love letter, I was shocked to find out she felt like this about me, I eventually responded back to her and told her to wait a few more years, I told her I liked her. In any-case after a few weeks of letter exchanges, I had to come back to England. I eventually told my dad that I wanted to marry her so I told my dad to tell her dad but my dad said no. Since I was drinking, did not have a job.

In any-case after a few months I convinced my mom to ask Salma's mom, so my mom did, and her mother said she would think about it. Since her mother wanted her to marry another person (we will call him Khalid), since his family was more rich and he was educated and also liked her daughter. I was upset about this, and shouted at my mom and dad.

A few years had passed, I was doing the same thing, drinking/drugs/girls no job.

One day we get a phone call from Salma's dad and he was going insane, cursing at me saying he would kill me. What had happened was Salma's little brother was snooping around in Salma's college books, and he found my photos in her book. So he took the photos to his dad, and Salma's dad beat her up for having my photos.

So after this had happened (only our families know about it) Salma's dad decided to get Salma married to Khalid, but Salma refused to agree to getting married and she said she would jump in the well.

So her father told her, she can never marry me. Anyway a few more years had passed my sisters were in Pakistan on a holiday enjoying themselves, and asked me to come, so my mom and dad allowed me to go too. So I went there met Salma's dads I could tell he did not like me much but he had no option he could not say anything to me.

I met Salma on the same day she had really grown up and I was really attracted to her and I could see she was to, me as well since she was always smiling at me and cooking for me (we were living at her house at the time) her mom used to joke about saying she never did cooking now that you are her she is always cooking, does not let anyone else feed you. Me and Salma during that time did not talk since it was frowned upon.

Anyway, eventually I had enough and Salma was in one of the rooms doing the ironing and I went into the room, we started talking, she held my hand etc... And we could hear someone coming, so she ran off into another room left me in the middle of nowhere and her grandmother comes into the room, and shouts at me (she thought I must by spying on Salma) so she flung walking stick at me it just missed me so I ran out of the room.

Anyway next day, when the grandma was sleeping - and everyone was out of the house cutting the grass, Salma was at home doing the housework. Salma walked passed me and whispered to me to meet her in one of the rooms. So I did and we started talking and she told me she wanted to marry me, I told her the same and we just hugged each other, and she told me, she said we can't meet anymore like this, it is haraam for us; she said we need to get married. And she said she wanted to marry me after 2 years after she finishes her education. So I agreed.

Later on I was thinking about it and I thought two years was too long... I said to myself I want to marry her now. So I went and told my older sister about it (who was also in Pakistan) and she shouted at me, saying things like: "you don't have a job, you don't work, and you have no money" I promised her saying I would go back and find a job. So she went and told my mom about it, and my mom said lets get him married if he wants to get married.

So my mom sent my dad to Pakistan, my dad was cursing at me saying I have embarrassed him, eventually he went to Salma's dad and told him about the situation, and her father said no, unless if we give him lots of land which my dad owned.

Eventually, I got my dad to agree to it.

So we were engaged, so they said we will just do a symbolic nikah (not a real one) and then wedding after two years, when she leaves college I thought OK, until I found out that we will not be able to sleep in the same room or do any of the things a husband and wife can do. Since there was no real nikah.

I insisted on a real nikah, eventually they agreed to a full-blown wedding, as long as I did not take Salma out of college, and allowed her to finish her education (which I would have anyway) so we went to a pir, and he did that star thing and gave us date for the wedding.

So we got married. Then the problems started.

I realized it was not just about me anymore it was also about her, for example if I wanted to go to the city she would be really upset with me, since all day she would be at home while I was out in the city. She started saying I did not care about her (you know typical women things) then she would stop talking to me, eventually I was fed up with her attitude. She wanted me to stop smoking, and drinking. I told her she knew how I was like before she got married to me.

anyway I came back to England and started looking for a job I found a par-time job in a pharmacy, but that was not enough to bring her over. I couldn't do other jobs, I quit them I couldn't save money etc...

Then on the phone she would be really moody about it, saying to me why I am calling her etc, when I don't care about her... Then she stopped talking to me, she would hand up on me if I called her. Eventually I was so mad, and started drinking more...

Then after about 8 months of her not talking to me, I said enough is enough, so I got a ticket to Pakistan I went over there, I was so mad with her... When I came to her house she did not even come to meet me, I asked her mom were she was and her mom told me she was in one of the rooms, so I went into the room and I found her there, she had a knife on her and she would not talk to me, my anger had come off by then I figured she was really upset, so I talked to her and eventually got her round to talking to me.

She told me she had the knife that if I touched her she would stab me, I told her she was being crazy and going mental, and she told me she was mental in my love etc.

So I stayed with her for 4 months, and we had a really good time, I started loving her more, when I got back to England eventually started doing the same thing, drinking no job, and I was drinking more because I had no job, then I was scared to ring my wife since she would ask me if I found a job... Now it has been 8 months I have not called her... I feel sick when I think about calling her since I have no job. I have been drinkin so much...

Sometimes I think it was not meant for us to, be together. I feel so heart broken thinking about how she would be feeling, I really love her, but I don't have a job to get her a visa. I noticed one thing...

No one wants to help either I have relatives who have businesses who could easily help me but they don't want to they want to see me fail that is desis for you. I am sick and tired of it all...

and I am thinking about committing suicide, writing a letter stating that my wife should be allowed to re-marry after my death. I just want to end it all.

I can't live like this, I am £300 in debt no one wants to help me. And I can't do anything without a job.

Sorry about this being so long.
Not returning Salam - and other issues

Assalam O Alaikum dear brothers,

My question may seem odd but it does address a certain black and white mentality which people seem to hold on certain religious practices. I've heard that its wajib to return the Salam with an equable or better greeting and have even had the misfortune of being 'happy salamed' by people to be condemned for not replying soon enough or not replying at all.

I understand that the Salam is not given to a disbeliever as it is not just a greeting but a prayer a prayer that ALlah grant peace to the one addressed and any prayer made should be sincere. I'm referring to instances when one doesn't return the 'obligated' returning of Salam. People might argue whats the harm in it and why would you not reply to someone who makes a greeting of peace to you.

Well consider this - why should I reply with a greeting of peace to an individual who has been a cause of scorn and distress for me? Assume this an individual who doesn't keep his word, plays with your rights, and in your dire time of need scorns and sadistically humiliates you... a prayer of peace from such an individual seems like a joke? Replying to such an individual with a half hearted prayer seems inconsistent with common sense? The point is that why do people seem to place such a religious emphasis on such matters whilst regard more serious issues as far from religion. If someone doesn't sport an exact Sunnah Beard, doesn't reply to someones salam, he's ostracized and beaten down as some kind of heathen - however if someone is a cheat or a usurper breaks his vows - its regarded as business a matter of Duniya...as if being a Muslim somehow grants one automated amnesty of some sort.. whats the point if it doesn't show up in ones COMPLETE personna and aspects of life regarded as 'wordly'.

Its like focusing on icing a poorly cooked up cake!

I want to comit suicide thanks to my life!

Hello brothers! Im only 15 years old and i have more problems u cant imagine!
First of all i want to tell u that people have not been looking at me as a real person. They see me as a joke. Well it started like this.
I were popular in third grade. I changed school coz i were in 2 much trouble but people liked me when i acted like shit.
In 4th grade i had even more troubles than the previous school.
They said my grades are not good and i really need help so they changed my school to a special group. Here i am in the 8th grade. It has been a pain everyday to go there.
I can tell u its a looong trip!

It takes 1 hour everyday to travel there and i dont want to! 3 and a half years have passed and i lost contact with every friend! They simply see me as a coward scissy now.
Im trying to start in my old school now. Im there 3 days aweek and people find this out and they look at me as a joke. I want to mention that i only have 1 friend. Nobody really likes me now.

Everytime its many against me and noone supports me. It feels like this is gonna kill me someday! The scars will never leave me coz im only at home playing computer games while others are having fun and tells me i have no friends and allways argues with me. Im a troublemaker and its allways me who ends up in trouble. I feel lonely and i allways want to cry. Specially now! Today something really bad happened and hopefully u will support me. Well here is the story.

I recently had an issue with some old friends. I knew them from kindergarden. Atleast 1 of them but they keep calling me “Turk” and so on coz im a Turk.
This pisses me off so i choosed to call him “Nigger”. They are both black actually.

Well i said i will beat him up and he toke the case serious and he told his friends. One of them said why dont u beat “Adem” up. A big guy. I said i dont want to, then this Lebanon christian guy said scissy. I said why dont u fight with me? This was supposed to be a joke and we decided to meet at a place the next day. I said i changed my mind and people called me scissy again. Everything looked fine until now. I didnt want to play a game with this “friend” he said dont play with others they dont want to play with u fucking turk.

I didnt care really bu the situation grew BIG! We decided a place again and we agreed that only Henok and Martin was coming. Henok is a black christian guy from Ethiopia and Martin is christian from Lebanon. Well we agreed to fight 1on1.

I beat up Martin and then Henok came. He hold me and they both tryed to beat me up. An neighbour assisted me and stopped everything. He told me to go home. I did and an old friend followed me home. He got a call and they said we will be fighting again 1on1. We didnt coz he ran away but now they are saying that they beat me up but they didnt.

It was 2v1 and still they got beaten up. I prayed alot for many people so that my duas would be accepted. I prayed for myself aswell for many days and alot. I didnt use this Dua i said in Turkish that i needed help and guidance from Allah. Can i ask Allah to curse them? Will Allaha curse them?
I was the one trying to stay out of this. And i really need ur guys help.

I feel bad and that noone is on my side. Please show me that ur on my side and answer if Allah told me to do the right thing and if it was right of me to go outside. Even tho i knew they would be 2v1. Will Allah punish them? Please pray for me.
And I will pray for you! I got many problems and almost no friends that will help me. Pray that i will get friends to assist me and also pray for me that everything will go right.
Tell me ur problems and i will promise that i will make duas for u. Please help me!

The problems is more than enough! Is this a sign of Allah that i will get a better life later? I doubt so coz i wont forget this at all! What am i gonna tell my kids? I didnt have friends as teenager? There is like noone that wants to hang out with me in my area and im 90% sure noone will help me from troubles. Even tho many people salutes me. I lost an old friend.
I also want to mention i had an old kurdish friend named Robin.

Today he really used me as a toy. He were one of my closest friends in 4th grade but today he were about to kill me. If my neighbour shouldnt help i would be dead. Please help me. Pray for me and if there is anything i could do in return ill do it! I also want to mention that im a nice guy and usually i dont really care if someone calls me a bitch or something unlike most of the kids here. I feel like i entertain people by getting myself killed and in trouble?

I allways share stuff when people asks. I allways help them when or atleast try. I allways burrow them money. I allways try to stop fights. I send money to poor people when possible but still. Why? Im even afraid to go outside! Im scared people will gather up and beat me up. I cant forget today and i have a black empty spot in my stomach. It really hurts and keeps me on bad humor/moral.

Im on a very bad mood. I cant laugh and have fun! Im only worried about this! Please help me! People said this is gonna be very fun! Im gonna bring popcorn! Thats the part i feel really bad about. And also that they will tell everyone they beat me up and people will keep calling me scissy and worthless. I'm writing too much but i need someone to talk to.

Another story is:
My friend Atakan had loads of issues like me.
Everyone wanted to beat him up. Then a guy called Isuf heard about this and toke advantage. He called me fat turk. I called him fat albanian and then fight begun. Lateron he called for a guy called Salar to beat me up. He didnt but he were close 2.

Is there hope for me? We lived here for 15 years now and i dont think my parents will move just coz of this. Im very calmed when people is seing me. Before i wasnt and i think thats a reason why they make fun of me now.
Im going throu a very hard time! Someone has to punnish those guys and u heard the story and what do u think? Is allah on my side or theirs? Will he punnish them? Please pray for me as i mentioned many times. Reply if u do and also mention about ur problems and i will pray for ur problems aswell.

I also want to mention that there is nothing that im good at. Many relatives dont like me. They say im a troublekid. I have been thinking of suicide and an EX home. Im tired of living! While everyone has friends im at home playing computer games and has nothing to do! I cant go to cinema or anything! People recognizes this. They are saying that im online everytime! And people i meet on the internet even tells me that! They tells me i have no friends at all and thats the reason! How do they know?

My grandfathers and grandmothers is dead! All four! My dads father remarried. He died 2009 December. His wife still lives and shes the only one i got left. Shes alone at home and scared all the time. She refuse to even open the door sometimes! She allways asks us to stay with her. After this day i know this scar isnt gonna pass away! I dont even have friends to play computer with anymore. Im even alone on the internet.
Im only 15 and i allready get this "Lets start a new life from the beginning".

Is this normal? If Allah would allow suicide. IDK what would happen with me. I know many Surahs and i got some experience in praying and i can read the quran abit. I live in Sweden. Why do i get all this problems?
Please do something for me to calm me down and stop thinking about negative stuff! I dont want this feeling in my stomach at all! I want to jump from the window and try to forget it all but it doesnt work that way! Im angry! Im on bad mood! Im very depressed! Im fat and also many thinks im ugly.

I mentioned some things over 1-2 times. I dont know what else to say.
And i think we will never play computer games again together! I think that they will never say sorry and im pretty sure we both will never forget this. Even tho they will im 100% sure they will use this against me. Im sure they will say ur the worthless guy that got his *** kicked by us.
For example:
U suck! U are worthless. U got ur *** kicked by us!

I will be very greatful if i could get some help!
Im Really sad and i really want to cry! At the same time i dont!
We have holiday for 1 week and i have been wasting that time to look on internet how to fight. I also looked at some verses from the Noble Quran in English. I prayed to allah as i mentioned but did i do the right thing? I prayed many times. Did Allah guide me for sure and will this bring any good news in the end? I heard if u had a bad life u will get a better one later. Is that true? Coz sometimes people dont see my life as bad coz i live in a Villa and have a good computer and coz my parents allows me to have fun by playing computer as much as i want and so on.

This world is confusing me sometimes! I cant understand people!

Burak Öz / Stockholm - Sweden
Humor: BAD! Depressed. Sad. Cant have fun and only thinking about today and my life.

Hopefully i will calm down and everything will be fine! I will thank anyone for their advice/duas. And in the end i hope everything will be fine! I could need anyone to speak with me on MSN.

THE PACIFISM OF ISLAM

According to the Koran, war represents an "unwanted obligation" which has to be absolutely carried out with strict observance of particular humane and moral values and resorted only when it is inevitable.

In a verse, it is explained that those who start wars are the disbelievers and that God does not approve wars:

…Each time they kindle the fire of war, Allah extinguishes it. They rush about the earth corrupting it. Allah does not love corrupters. (Surat al-Ma'ida: 64)

A closer examination of Prophet Muhammad's life reveals that war is a method resorted for defensive purposes only in unavoidable situations.

The revelation of the Koran to Prophet Muhammad lasted for 23 years. During the first 13 years of this period, Muslims lived as a minority under a pagan rule in Mecca and faced much oppression. Many Muslims were harassed, abused, tortured, and even murdered, their houses and possessions were plundered. Despite this however, Muslims led their lives without resorting to any violence and always called pagans to peace.

When the oppression of pagans escalated unbearably, Muslims emigrated to the town of Yathrib, which was later to be renamed Medina, where they could establish their own order in a more friendly and free environment. Even establishing their own political system did not prompt them to take up weapons against aggressive pagans of Mecca. Only after the following revelation, the Prophet commanded his people to get prepared for war:

Permission to fight is given to those who are fought against because they have been wronged - truly God has the power to come to their support - those who were expelled from their homes without any right, merely for saying, 'Our Lord is God'… (Surat al-Hajj: 39-40)

In brief, Muslims were allowed to wage war only because they were oppressed and subjected to violence. To put it in another way, God granted permission for war only for defensive purposes. In other verses, Muslims are warned against use of unnecessary provocation or unnecessary violence:

Fight in the Way of God against those who fight you, but do not go beyond the limits. God does not love those who go beyond the limits. (Surat al-Baqara: 190)

After the revelations of these verses, wars occurred between Muslims and pagan Arabs. In none of these wars, however, were the Muslims the inciting party. Furthermore, Prophet Muhammad established a secure and peaceful social environment for Muslims and pagans alike by signing a peace agreement (Hudaybiya) which conceded to the pagans most of their requests. The party who violated the terms of the agreement and started a new war was again the pagans. However, with rapid conversions into Islam, the Islamic armies attained great power against the pagan Arabs and Prophet Muhammad conquered Mecca without bloodshed and in a spirit of tolerance. If he willed, he could have taken revenge on pagan leaders in the city. Yet, he did not do harm to any one of them, forgave them and treated them with the utmost tolerance. Pagans, who would later convert to Islam by their own will, could not help admiring such noble character of the Prophet.

The Islamic principles God proclaims in the Koran account for this peaceful and temperate policy of Prophet Muhammad. In the Koran, God commands believers to treat even the non-Muslims kindly and justly:

...God does not forbid you from being good to those who have not fought you over religion or driven you from your homes, or from being just towards them. God loves those who are just. God merely forbids you from taking as friends those who have fought you over religion and driven you from your homes and who supported your expulsion... (Surat al-Mumtahana: 8-9)

The verses above specify the outlook of a Muslim on non-Muslims: A Muslim should treat all non-Muslims kindly and avoid making friends only with those who show enmity to Islam. In case this enmity causes violent attacks against the existence of Muslims, that is, in case they wage a war against them, then Muslims should respond them justly by considering the humane dimensions of the situation. All forms of barbarism, unnecessary acts of violence and unjust aggression are forbidden by Islam. In another verse, God warns Muslims against this and explains that rage felt for enemies should not cause them to drift them into injustice:

You who believe! Show integrity for the sake of God, bearing witness with justice. Do not let hatred for a people incite you into not being just. Be just. That is closer to heedfulness. Heed God (alone). God is aware of what you do. (Surat al-Ma'ida: 8)

The Meaning of the Concept of "Jihad"

Another concept that deserves clarification due to the content of this article is the concept of "jihad".

The exact meaning of "Jihad" is "effort". That is, in Islam, "to carry out jihad" is "to show efforts, to struggle". Prophet Muhammad explained that "the greatest jihad is the one a person carries out against his lower soul". What is meant by "lower soul" here is the selfish desires and ambitions. A struggle given on intellectual grounds against anti-religious, atheist views is also a form of jihad in its complete sense.

Apart from these ideological and spiritual meanings, struggle in the physical sense is also considered as "jihad". However, as explained above, this has to be a struggle carried out solely for defensive purposes. The use of the concept of "jihad" for acts of aggression against innocent people, that is for terror, would be unjust and a great distortion.

Compassion, Tolerance and Pacifism in Islam

To state briefly, the Islamic political doctrine is extremely peaceful and moderate. This fact is also confirmed by many non-Muslim historians and theologians. One of these is the British historian, Karen Armstrong, a former nun and a renowned expert on Middle East history. In her book, Holy War, in which she examines the history of the three great divine religions, she comments:

... The word Islam comes from the same Arabic root as the word peace and the Koran condemns war as an abnormal state of affairs opposed to God's will: "When the enemies of the Muslims kindle a fire for war, Allah extinguishes it. They strive to create disorder in earth, and Allah loves not those who create disorder." (Koran 28:78). Islam does not justify a total aggressive war or extermination, as the Torah does in the first five books of the Bible. A more realistic religion than Christianity, Islam recognizes that war is inevitable and sometimes a positive duty in order to and oppressions and suffering. The Koran teaches that war must be limited and be conducted in as humane a way of possible. Mohammed had to fight not only the Meccans but also the Jewish tribes in the area and Christian tribes in Syria who planned on offensive against him in alliance with the Jews. Yet this did not make Mohammed denounce the People of the Book. His Muslims were forced to defend themselves but they were not fighting a holy war against the religion of their enemies. When Mohammed sent his freedman Zaid against the Christians at the head of a Muslim army, he told them to fight in the cause of God bravely but humanely. They must not molest priests, monks and nuns nor the weak and helpless people who were unable to fight. There must be no massacre of civilians nor should they cut down a single tree nor pull down any building. This was very different from the wars of Joshua.

Following the death of Prophet Muhammad, Muslims continued to treat the members of other religions with tolerance and respect. Islamic states became the secure and free home of both Jews and Christians. After the conquest of Jerusalem, Caliph Omar calmed the Christians who were in fear of a massacre and explained to them that they were secure. Furthermore, he visited their churches and declared that they could continue to practise their worship freely.

In 1099, 4 centuries after the conquest of Jerusalem by Muslims, Crusaders invaded Jerusalem and put all Muslims inhabitants to the sword. Again, contrary to the fears of Christians, Saladin, the Muslim general who captured Jerusalem and saved the city from invasion in 1187, did not touch even a single civilian and did not allow a single soldier to plunder. Moreover, he allowed the invading Christians to take all their possessions and leave the city in security.

The periods of Seljuk Turks and the Ottoman Empire were also marked by the tolerance and justice of Islam. As is known, Jews who were expelled from Catholic Spain found the peace they sought on the lands of Ottoman Empire, where they took refuge in 1492. Sultan Mehmed, the conqueror of Istanbul, also allowed Jews and Christians religious freedom. Regarding the tolerant and just practises of Muslims, historian A. Miquel states the following:

The Christians were ruled by a very well administered state which was something that did not exist in the Byzantium or Latin sovereignty. They were never subjected to a systematized oppression. On the contrary, the Empire, and foremost Istanbul, became a refuge for the much tortured Spanish Jews. They were never forced to accept Islam.

John L. Esposito, a professor of Religion and International Politics at the Georgetown University, makes a similar comment:

For many non-Muslim populations in Byzantine and Persian territories already subjugated to foreign rulers, Islamic rule meant an exchange of rulers, the new ones often more flexible and tolerant, rather than a loss of independence. Many of these populations now enjoyed greater local autonomy and often paid lower taxes... Religiously, Islam proved a more tolerant religion, providing greater religious freedom for Jews and indigenous Christians.

As is clarified in these words, history never witnessed Muslims as "makers of mischief". On the contrary, they brought security and peace to the people from all nations and beliefs inhabiting the large territory over which they reigned. (For further reference, see Justice and Tolerance in the Koran, by Harun Yahya, 2000)

In brief, compassion, peace and tolerance constitute the very basis of the values of the Koran and Islam aims to wipe mischief out of the earth.
The commands of the Koran and the ways Muslims practised them throughout history are so clear as to leave no room for dispute.
benefit's of zikr

Asalaamu alykum wa rachmatula wa barakato hu

asalato wasalaamu alayka ya rasooloolah sallalu wa alahi wa salim

bismilla ar rachma neeraheem

Benefits of Meditation
Physical Benefits
Deep rest-as measured by decreased metabolic rate, lower heart rate, and reduced work load of the heart.

Lowered levels of cortisol and lactate-two chemicals associated with stress.

Reduction of free radicals- unstable oxygen molecules that can cause tissue damage. He was admitted for three days and on the fourth day the attendant nurse said, "Marry me".

He [the brother in Glasgow] asked, "Why? I am a Muslim, you and I cannot become companions."

She said, "I will become Muslim".

"What's the reason?" it was asked.

She said, "In all my time that I have served in hospitals, except you, I have never seen a man lower his gaze in front of a woman. In my life you are the first person who lowers his gaze when seeing a woman. I come, and you close your eyes. Such great modesty can be taught by none other than a true religion."

The protection of one's gaze entered Islam in her. She testified to the Oneness of Allah (SWT) and became a Muslim. They both got married. By now, the same woman was and is the means of bringing so many other girls and women into Islam.

In a Hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported as having said: "And the eyes commit zina (adultery). What is the reason behind this?

Another question which i posted before is what is the wisdon behing this = two women witness equal 1 man witness. I was tolded the reason is as women have too much stress and are forgetful?? but this can be the case for men and women.

Jazak'allah :)

Shocking! My intention is not to offend or comment on any particular group, and that’s how I hope people would approach this thread using their own style ofcourse, ie individuality is greatly welcomed and no one expects anyone to be like other over here.

Be neutral and critisize constructively, because when you get your points across in the best of manner only then it would give an everlasting impact on the users here. As a growing community, each and everyone of us needs to be selfless and work together to reach a common goal, which to me is the revival of our Beloved sallalahu alaihi wasalam’s ummah again, both young and elderly alike.

Moving on, first point raised was that how things have become more of a wresling game, everyone feels contend that they are with the strongest group and the ones on ‘haq’.Its ammusing to see that we have involved ourselves deeply in something so silly, it has made us forget our duties to this beautiful life that we have been blessed with.

Something that I never grasp is when people use weak excuse of being forgiven for sins or basically being human, and this has made us loose the plot and confused themselves over whats obligatory and whats not. But on the other hand, when someone else does it we’re quick to jump. Why is the argument valid only for us?

Looking at the examples such as Hazrat Umar radhiyallahu anhu was one of the sahabis who was promised jannah yet he always feared that he maybe put amongst the hypocrite and stived fully in the way of Allah. (if Umar radhiyallahu anhu confused with another sahabi, correct me please)

Why are we taking things for granted? Even after getting frustrated by some of the overly zealous preachers, that shouldn’t really put us off from our duties to Allah. Why does it hide the fact from us that indeed what were doing is wrong and our concious has pretty much stopped interfering? Everyone should conciously know that they are doing it for the sake of Allah and not because they are representing certain group or Shaykh who guide us to His azzawajal will.

It’s an open-topic, so come along and share your view. However, it is all based on the premise that Valentine’s Day is a purely Christian festival. The origins of Valentine’s Day are quite sketchy. Here is the true and definitive reason why Muslims should embrace Valentine’s Day in all its commercial, superficial glory

=============================

The Muslim origins of Valentine’s Day

There once was a village in Muslimistan, where a young boy called Wali Nuteen lived. He was a kind, fun-loving adventurous boy, who was Sunni, practicing, tall, with a fair complexion, steady job and a healthy respect for Shia people, without appearing dogmatic. In fact, just the kind of description any Muslim lady scouring adverts on Muslim matrimonial sites would be happy with.

One day, Wali was walking along the main street of his village when he spied a beautiful lady. In an instant, he fell in love. The girl was called Begum; she was from a rival tribe. She was 23 years his senior, and already married. But he still, Walis love for Begum knew no bounds.

Usually, someone like Wali would be smacked silly at the very least by Begum’s husband, or by Begum’s family or more likely, by both. However, Wali was known as being an eccentric boy and decent if not very bright sort, so they didn’t kill him. Wali didn’t do much about his love either, just quietly waited for the right time.

Many years later, news reached Walis village that Begum’s husband had tragically chocked on his miswaak. Begum was distraught and her children fatherless. Wali, being the insensitive, selfish chap that people in love usually are, thought he had found his chance. Begum’s father, who was now 76, met with Wali.

“Your only chance with my daughter is if you can kiss your elbow”

For the next few days Wali wandered between his village and Begums village, vainly trying to kiss his elbows. At last, he couldn’t take it anymore. With the assistance of a local blacksmith, Wali dislocated both shoulders, and kissed both his elbows. Triumphant, he staggered to Begums house.

However the awkward angle of his drooping arms, along with the screams of pain, looked like an insult to Begum’s father. He promptly shot Wali through the heart. Begum did not know any of this as she was on a recuperative trip to the seaside. Begum’s father was a very very clever man.

The locals used this story to warn children about love, and the story became ‘Wali Nuteen Day’, which after visits by Crusaders, and many years of retelling, became ‘Valentine’s Day’. The moral, dear readers, is this:

Do not dislocate both your shoulders to kiss your elbows on Valentine’s Day, or any other day for that matter.

Help Please???

Assalamalykum Brotherz & Sisterz. The father believed in encouragement. Even though the son was always on the bench, his father was always in the stands cheering. He never missed a game.

This young man was the smallest of the class when he entered high school.

His father continued to encourage him but also made it very clear that he did not have to play football if he didn't want to.

But the young man loved football and decided to hang in there. He was determined to try his best at every practice, and perhaps he would get to play when he became a senior.

All through high school he never missed a practice or a game, but remained a bench warmer all four years. His faithful father was always in the stands, always with words of encouragement for him. When the young man went to college, he decided to try out for the football team as a "walk-on."

Everyone was sure he could never make the cut, but he did. The coach admitted that he kept him on the roster because he always puts his heart and soul to every practice, and at the same time, provided the other members with the spirit and hustle they badly needed. The news that he had survived the cut thrilled him so much that he rushed to the nearest phone and called his father.

His father shared his excitement and was sent season tickets for all the college games. This persistent young athlete never missed practice during his four years at college, but he never got to play in the game.

It was the end of his senior football season, and as he trotted onto the practice field shortly before the big play off game, the coach met him with a telegram. The young man read the telegram and he became deathly silent.

Swallowing hard, he mumbled to the coach, "My father died this morning. Is it all right if I miss practice today?"

The coach put his arm gently around his shoulder and said, "Take the rest of the week off, son. And don't even plan to come back to the game on Saturday." Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well.

In the third quarter, when the team was ten points behind, a silent young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room and put on his football gear. As he ran onto the sidelines, the coach and his players were astounded to see their faithful team-mate back so soon.

"Coach, please let me play. I have just got to play today," said the young man.

The coach pretended not to hear him. There was no way he wanted his worst player in this close playoff game. But the young man persisted, and finally feeling sorry for young man, the coach gave in. "All right," he said. "You can go in." Before long, the coach, the players and everyone in the stands could not believe their eyes. This little unknown, who had never played before, was doing everything right. The opposing team could not stop him. He ran, he passed, blocked and tackled like a star. His team began to triumph.

The score was soon tied. In the closing seconds of the game, this young man intercepted a pass and ran all the way for the winning touchdown. The fans broke loose. His team-mates hoisted him onto their shoulders. Such cheering you have never heard!

Finally, after the stands had emptied and the team had showered and left the locker room, the coach noticed that the young man was sitting quietly in the corner all alone. The coach came to him and said, "Young man, I can't believe it. You were fantastic! Tell me what got into you? How did you do it?"

Young man looked at the coach, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Well, you knew my dad died, but did you know that my dad was blind?" The young man swallowed hard and forced a smile, "Dad came to all my games, but today was the first time he could see me play, and I wanted to show him I could do it!"

Remember:

* "Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try."
* "Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all."
* "Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."

many more such stories

http://kgn786.com/forum/index.php?board=34.0

harrow mosque protest dec 13th

Assalam alaikum As you may be aware Harrow Central Mosque is once again the focal point for rightwing Islamophobic extremists who will be holding a protest on Sunday 13th December. Harrow Central Mosque would like to have a number of community volunteers to act as stewards to try and make sure that the youg people, and others attending, are kept safe and are not encouraged to do actions by others which will simply damage the image of Muslims in Harrow and the reputation of the mosque. The key group behind the protest, Stop the Islamisation of Europe (SIOE), had made it very clear that the intention of such protests is to show how violent the Muslims are. It is our intention to refute this by making sure those who attend are not pulled into actions which may break the law or allow the media to get that "money" shot. We are looking for up to 50 volunteers. You should be calm and level headed and be able to speak with people in a manner which will deflate tensions. We are not here to police the event nor expect you to assist the police in making arrests or controlling opposing protestors. We simply want to make sure that we do all we possibly can to prevent the young people attending, majority of whom will be Muslim, from getting into unnecessary trouble with the Police and providing a voice of reason and trust. Training will take place on: Sunday 6th DecemberHarrow Central Mosque(after Maghrib salah)Duration: approx 1 hr. If you are interested in helping please reply to this email (info@harrowmosque.org.uk). Please do let us know if you are coming so that we can make adequate arrangements. . Please feel free to pass this email onto other brothers and your networks.

Cure for Hardening of the Heart

al-Qurtubi's
At-Tadhkirah

Ibn Majah reported on the authority of Ibn Ma’sud rađiyAllāhu ánhu that the Prophet şallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam said,

I have previously prohibited you of visiting graves, but now i ask you to do so as they help you disregard this worldly life and reminds you of the hereafter.

Scholars have said,

The best thing for the hearts, particularly if they are hardened, is to visit cemeteries. Those who have hardened hearts can cure them by the following things:

(1) Attending religious congregations to help them repent by listening to sermons that remind one of Allah Almighty, alarm them of hell, provoke them to seek Jannah, tell them about the biographies of virtuous people which softens hearts and cures them.

(2) Remembering death frequently as it eliminates pleasures, sets clans apart and renders children orphans. It is narrated that a woman complained to Ummul Mumineen Sayyidah Ayesha Siddiqah rađiyAllāhu ánha that her (the woman enquiring) heart is hardened. So Ummul Mumineen rađiyAllāhu ánha said to her, “If you remember death frequently, your heart will be softened.” The woman did so and her heart became softer, and she came back to thank her, may Allah Almighty be pleased with her. Scholars have stated, “Remembering death deters one from committing sins, soften rigid hearts, alleviates one’s indulgence in this worldly lifeand decreases the impact of catastrophes."

(3) Seeing dying people on their deathbeds. Doing so, together with witnessing their suffering and pondering about their fate after death, undermines delight, prevents sleep and relaxation, urges people to toil and increases diligence and hard work.

Imam Qurtubi’s, At-Tadhkirah, pg 30 – 31, Dar al Manarah

Yanabi.com meeting update

Assalamu alaykum
I have had an indepth discussion with Brother Alom and can conclude that I aim to hire a 7 seater from Worcester and will collect people from the West Midlands area.

1. I need to know how many people in the West Midlands are willing to come with us in the 7 seater.

From here we aim to go to either the London area or the Yorkshire area for the meeting.

2. I need to know which area has the geatest interest of people who wish to meet and discuss possible tangible steps forward i.e. If the greatest interest is in the Yorkshire region then we will meet with the brothers in Yorkshire.

Sajid
i humbly request to our users not to divert the attention of the subject in hand with random topics

Back to Uni?

Assalaamualaikum

Many of us are returning to our Universities to start to the new academic year within the next few weeks.

I pray that we all have the protection of our Lord the Highest and remember that even if our family is not watching us, He is.

Y'Allaahu Shaahidi - Allaah is witnessing me

Y'Allaahu Naadhiri - Allaah is watching me

Y'Allaahu Ma'aee - Allaah is with me

I also wish you all a successful new academic year, Insha Allaah. The reason I mention this is that a few years ago I noticed that several Muslim authors, book publishers and websites (mainly, if not exclusively, of the "Salafi" persuasion) had dispensed with the widely accepted spelling of 'aqidah (i.e. creed / doctrine / dogma) and instead were spelling it 'aqueedah. I was both dumbfounded and embarrassed! Now I had even more books that I had to hide from non-Muslims! Keep in mind that the issue here is not their use of the double "e" (which can have its benefits in pronunciation in spite of the fact that it's rather unsightly), nor the use of the terminal "h" to represent a taa marbutah (which I prefer simply for distinction's sake). Rather, the issue is their use of "qu" in lieu of a lone "q" to ostensibly represent the Arabic letter qaf.

It seems to me that anyone familiar with the basic rules of English pronunciation would immediately see the flaw in this newfangled spelling of 'aqueedah. Indeed, spelling the word this way renders a pronunciation of akwïda - which comes nowhere near the original Arabic pronunciation. When the letters "qu" are used in English (a spelling and pronunciation inherited from Latin), they almost always produce the "kw" sound. A few obvious examples are quick (kwik), quit (kwit) and quart (kwôrt). The only exception to the "kw" pronunciation of "qu" that I'm aware of is the word "queue" (kyü). However, this is a rare exception and only proves what I mention below: that almost all rules of grammar are subject to exceptions.

I recall reading an article on a "Salafi" website, which I am now unable to locate, in which the author did his level best to explain why the letter "q" can only be used with a "u" immediately following. My guess is that some over zealous "Salafi" (who seem to have a knack for learning about a rule - real or alleged, understanding it simplistically, taking it absolutely and then trying to force it on others) was sitting in his English Grammar 101 course when the professor happened to mention that in the English language the letter "q" is never used unless followed by a "u". This well-intentioned "Grammar Wahabi", in his self-righteous zeal, then decided to take it upon himself to demonstrate that everyone else was wrong, while he - with his newly found knowledge - was right. How many times have we seen this before?

Yes, it is true that in the English language the letter "q" is usually followed by a "u". However, this is a general rule which, like most general rules, has a few exceptions. Indeed, the mistake of the anonymous "Grammar Wahabi" who started using 'aqueedah was in assuming that there are no exceptions to the aforementioned rule of grammar. A wise man once said, "Assumption - the Mother of All Screw Ups." One of the most common exceptions to this rule of spelling is when foreign words are incorporated into the English language. According to the most authoritative sources (including the Oxford English Dictionary and the Encyclopedia Britannica) there are words in the English language in which a "u" does not follow a "q", all but one of these words having reached English from another language (mainly Chinese or Arabic). Actually, my first thought when reading the article which tried to justify the use of the 'aqueedah spelling was to surmise that the general rules of spelling simply don't apply when incorporating foreign words into the English language, since Qatar, qadi and Qinq can be found in any descent English dictionary or encyclopedia.

So it seems that our proverbial "Grammar Wahabi", after learning a rule of grammar, could no longer see the forest because of the trees. If he understood basic English pronunciation and had realized that the sine qua non of transliteration is to make a word written in a foreign script or language pronounceable in the English language, then he probably would not have fallen into this 'aqueedah error. Well at least he's not just another Wahabi with 'aqueedah problems, since this time they're of a different sort!

Women self Defence

salaam

My Sister Want To learn A type Of Self Defence. The appeal is supported and endorsed by all the Masjids in Hackney as well as the main Muslim schools, Muslim organisations and Muslim womens organisations. Funds are being raised for the hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) – a unit that cares for babies born with delicate and serious health issues (i.e. like an intensive care unit).

Brothers and sisters reading this email may even know babies, possibly even in one’s own family, that have been cared for at the unit and the support it has given to parents, especially mothers. This Appeal is a token of the Hackney Muslim communities appreciation of the valuable work the unit does.

Please donate generously this Ramdhan as good deeds are multiplied many times over. It would be appreciated if the attached poster and this email can be forwarded to as many people as possible, especially sisters.

If each person was to donate an hour’s pay, or half an hour’s pays, or a day’s pocket money, or the cost of a meal out, or the cost of a t-shirt, or the cost of a pair of earrings or lipstick, or even the cost of a loaf of bread towards the Appeal Inshallah that would go a long way in supporting the work of staff at the SCBU. Imagine the smile on a mothers face when she sees the improvements in the health of her baby – an improvement that YOU helped bring by your donation.

The funds raised will be presented to Homerton Hospital by a cross section of Hackney’s Muslim community.

Help save/improve the life of a baby by donating today. Also, events when certain comments are made which might be lewd or simply just funny/sarcastic. The most common place woud be live concerts but I hope not many go over there so it can be ruled out for this particular discussion.

So whats the deal than? less freedom at home? Why? Because if we love our hearts more than we love Him, then we will not hesitate in the least to break His commands should we experience any difficulty to our hearts.Consider the following example: A beautiful woman passes by. Our heart is inclined to look at her. If we love Allah intensely (more than our heart) then we will displease our heart and please Allah by not looking at her. If, on the other hand, we love our heart more, then we will go ahead and sin by casting a lustful glance at her, thereby pleasing the heart and at the same time displeasing Allah. Thus in order to stay away from sins, it is necessary that the love of Allah be more than anything else.

Non Sunni Link Removed

When you know you're spending too much time on YaNabi!

WHEN YOU KNOW YOU'RE SPENDING TO MUCH TIME ON YANABI

:D

1.
