All the prophets and their true followers are/were Muslim because muslim means one who submits himself to Allah. In this sense they are Muslim. The name "Muslim" therefore existed even before the advent of Aan Hazrat (sal Allahu alaihi wa salam): Huwa sammakumu'l MUSLIMEENA min qablu wa fee hadha "He (Allah) has named you as MUSLIMS both before (in the time of the earlier revelations) and in this (revelation)" (al-Hajj, v.78)

Just a short reply I want to give (whether we can understand Islam fully or properly or not) and that is Islam and Muslims was there from day one. One example, Hazrat Aadam (Alaihi Salam) taught Islam, He was a Prophet of Allah, All Prophets of Allah are Muslims and they only teach and taught Islam.

And my dear Brother Hussain ... where have you read Jesus was a Christain ? please verify. This is not pointing fingers at you but for my information.
If you are refering to the Bible then as stated above the followers lost their path and Holy Quran declares that Jesus was not Son of God ....
God begets not, nor is he begotten (Qur'an, 112:3)
The Title "Son of God" in Matthew's Gospel
Students of the Bible will easily notice that the title Son of God is often used in Matthew without agreement from Mark and Luke. For example, what did the passers-by say at the scene of the cross? Their saying is reported in Mark 15:29-30 and also in Matthew 27:40. If you compare the two reports, you will notice that Matthew has added a phrase to the effect that Jesus is the Son of God.
We find another example of this in Matthew 14:22-33. Jesus had just miraculously fed five thousand people with five loaves and two fish. Then he sent his disciples to the other side of the sea. After praying to God, Jesus went out miraculously walking on the sea to meet his disciples. Eventually he got into the boat with them. How did the disciples react to all this? Mark and Matthew give us two different answers. Mark says:
"And they were utterly astounded, for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened" (Mark 6:51-52).
In Matthew, however, the disciples were not perplexed at all. They had it all figured out and they knew exactly what to do. Matthew says:
"And those in the boat worshipped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God"" (Matthew 14:33).
Again, Matthew has improved the story to show that Jesus is the Son of God.
It may be useful here to see what Bible commentaries say about this difference. In Matthew's Gospel, the New American Bible has a footnote saying as follows:
"This confession is in striking contrast to the Markan parallel where the disciples are "completely astounded"" (Revised New Testament, p. 35).
In the Pelican New Testament Commentaries, author John Fenton reminds us that in Mark the disciples were uncomprehending. Fenton then comments:
"Matthew omits this, because in his Gospel the disciples are presented as men who have been given insight" (The Gospel of Saint Matthew, p. 247).
The difference here between Matthew and Mark was pointed out also in Harper's Bible Commentary. Commenting on Matthew, the editors say:
"Instead of reacting, as in Mark, with incomprehension, the whole crew confesses Jesus as the Son of God" (1988 edition, p. 967).
Evidence from the Qur'an A common mistake among people is their thinking of God as a super human being somewhere up in the sky. Then they attribute all kinds of human activity and relationships to God as if He was like human beings. Once it is clear that humans have children, such people conclude that God has children too. But God declares this idea to be false. God tells us in His Book that there is nothing like Him (see surah 42:11). God also says that there is nothing comparable unto Him (112:4). Surely, God is not a physical being. God tells us: "Vision comprehends Him not, but He comprehends (all) vision" (Qur'an 6:103). God declares that those who impute sons and daughters to Him do so falsely and without knowledge (see surah 6:100). The Qur'an appeals to our reason by saying: "The Originator of the heavens and the earth! How can He have a child when he has no consort, when He created all things and is Aware of all things?" (6:101) This is in obvious reply to those who may claim that God has a literal son or daughter, terms which in human languages mean the offspring of a pair. Some may say, however, that God can produce a child without having a consort. In that case, you are not speaking of a child but a creature of God. In any case, God declares that He begets not, nor is He begotten (surah 112:3). Some may say that God has adopted a child. God declares that this idea too lacks reason. Since everyone already belongs to God, what then is the point of adopting? God says: "And they say: Allah has taken unto Himself a son. Be He glorified! Nay, but whatsoever is in the heaven and the earth are His. All are subservient unto Him. The originator of the heavens and the earth! When He decrees a thing, He says unto it only: Be! and it is" (2:116-117). The idea that people should be called children of God is an erroneous one. Why not call them what they are? They are mortals of God's creating. To those who say, "We are the sons of Allah and His loved ones," Allah tells us to say as follows: "Why then does He chastise you for your sins? Nay, you are but mortals of His creating" (5:18). God is not like humans to need children. God declares that He is self-sufficient. He has no need for such things (Qur'an 10:68). It just so happens that people have a tendency to regard righteous persons as children of God. But God instructs us to call them not His children, but His righteous servants. God says: "And they say: The Beneficent has taken unto Himself a son. Be He glorified! Nay, but (those whom they call sons) are honoured slaves; they speak not until He has spoken, and they act by His command" (21:26-27). Taken from Sympatico reference for your perusal So can we know what really happened? Commenting on the same passage in Matthew's Gospel, the Interpreter's One-Volume Commentary on the Bible says:
"The presence of Matthew's favorite phrase little faith suggests either that he has created this story or that he has reworked it to suit his purpose" (p. 627).
As we have said before, careful study reveals that the title Son of God is not one that Jesus claimed for himself. Nor did his true disciples call him by that title.

Assalamu alaikum,
A Christian means literally a follower of Christ. Christ is the title given to Isa AS (Jesus Christ), and literally means 'the anointed one' (anointment was a religious ritual done to prove Jesus AS as the messiah).
So literally speaking, Jesus AS could never have been a Christian.
Interesting, I've heard some people (ignorance) refer to Muslims as 'Mohammadians' subhanallah when all our Islam is submitting to Allah SWT.
Allahu Akbar! May He guide us all, ameen.

Salam Aleikum brothers and sisters
I think that the problem is that word: "islam". If this word is seen like a sustantive, it is a historical religion, but if this word is seen like a verb, it is the action of "loving and give the body, mind and heart to Allah".
(Excuseme,I don t talk "summision to Allah" because sumission is born to the fear, and the ibadah is for love and tauba, the way to Allah without dnab, fear is a traduccion no more good for me).
If we see like a verb, it was what SIdna Isa was, Sidna Musa was, Sidna Ibrahim was, (Peace upon their souls) they and their followers were "people who loved and abandonated for Allah". In front of Allah, the human fall and give humility their person, the result is the ibadah, the suyud. It is to be amuslim a "human loving and alone in front of Allah", Allah, the Creador and Who is Suporting every worlds, every person, every planet, every atom..... He is Rahman, Rahim.
Then, every profect were muslims, people loving Allah and making ibadah to Him. Not a historic religion, but a universal religion of fitrah, the "islam" (sustantive in that ocassion) of this age.
Islam of Muhammad salalahu aleihi wa salam is the regeneration of fitrah, not a other religion.
The problem is when a religion take a form and it is a formalist ritualism, it become a "cult", a empty religion. But "islam",the love of Allah in the fitra always is in our interior masAllah.
The, sidna Isa was a muslim, because he loves and give ibadah to Allah. He don t made salat in a "mosque" like nowadays we know but he was in suyud because his mayid was a place of loving Allah, without persan, arabic ou pakistan forms of temple, but a place for suyud (suyud-masyid).
For me, the problem is the form what it is a veil for our comprenssion. Muslim, cristian, jew, sikh, atheist..... Anupeople can rechaced in their interior a Force that is moving the Universe and their person, but religions, myths, the force of hystory is a distraccion for our fitrah.
Jesus was muslim, every profect was muslim, and our must be muslims for Allah, no for being a religion between others.
We know taht islam is a good way, but we must be good.
I wish Rahma of Allah for you, for muslim, for cristian, for jew, for every word, His Nur for the people.Amin.
Excuse me for my no good thing if I said, the most ignorant of we, Omar Al Galliqi.
(Excuse me formy bad english jejeje).
Salam Aleikum brothers and sisters, Allah give the Nur.

A Muslim is one who does Islam. Islam is to follow the will of Allah in complete submission and obedience, without compulsion. Out of this you attain peace both internal and external. All The prophets followed the Will of Allah, hence they were Muslim. Hence, Isa (as), no more than a prophet of God, was a Muslim. *To the initiator of this thread - not even Christians say Jesus was a Christian! many say he was a Jew.

We gave him Isaac and Jacob: all (three) guided: and before him, We guided Noah, and among his progeny, David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron: thus do We reward those who do good: [6:84] And when Ibrahim and Ismail raised the foundations of the House: Our Lord! accept from us; surely Thou art the Hearing, the Knowing: Our Lord! and make us both submissive (muslimayni) to Thee and (raise) from our offspring a nation submitting (ommatan muslimatan) to Thee, and show us our ways of devotion and turn to us (mercifully), surely Thou art the Oft-returning (to mercy), the Merciful. Our Lord! and raise up in them an Apostle from among them who shall recite to them Thy communications and teach them the Book and the wisdom, and purify them; surely Thou art the Mighty, the Wise. And who forsakes the religion of Ibrahim but he who makes himself a fool, and most certainly We chose him in this world, and in the hereafter he is most surely among the righteous. When his Lord said to him, Be a Muslim (aslim), he said: I submit myself (aslamtu) to the Lord of the worlds. And the same did Ibrahim enjoin on his sons and (so did) Yaqoub. O my sons! surely Allah has chosen for you (this) faith, therefore die not unless you are Muslims (illa waantum muslimoona). Nay! were you witnesses when death visited Yaqoub, when he said to his sons: What will you serve after me? They said: We will serve your God and the God of your fathers, Ibrahim and Ismail and Ishaq, one God only, and to Him do we submit (wanahnu lahu muslimoona). [S. 2:127-133] Shakir Ibrahim was not a Jew nor a Christian but he was (an) upright (man), a Muslim (musliman), and he was not one of the polytheists. [S. 3:67] Shakir When Jesus found Unbelief on their part He said: "Who will be My helpers to (the work of) Allah?" Said the disciples: "We are Allah's helpers: We believe in Allah, and do thou bear witness that we are Muslims. [S. 3:52]

I always thought the christians followed the word of Isa (pbuh)- is Isa (pbuh) has always been a muslim, his word would be the word of Islam...So christians also follow the word of Islam?:ermm: Sorry don't understand...:ermm:
By corrupted we mean that the original teachings of Jesus (pbuh) have been lost over time, and as a result today’s followers who claim to follow Christ heed to something not originally preached by Christ. That is not to say however, that the entire Bible is false. There are many truths in it that have not been corrupted. However, what constitutes as the original bible and teachings of Christ are impossible to distinguish because the original manuscripts have perished, and not a single word preached by Christ was written down during his lifetime. The oldest fragments of the bible all contradict one another. As a result in Christendom you have hundreds of sects and denominations, and perhaps thousands of “versions” of the bible. The schism is so great that Christians cannot even agree on the fundamentals such as the nature of God and Christ. Muslims believe that mankind has been guided thorough prophets, and the prophetic lifestyle is the only lifestyle by which one may attain peace with his/her creator. However, today the only acceptable way to your lord is Islam.
People who attempt to follow the example of prophets before Muhammad (peace be upon him), ie mosses and Jesus , are in a very difficult position indeed. The sincere among them wish to worship Allah, however it is impossible for them to do so in the way Allah has indicated that he is to be worshiped. This is because the books their prophets were given are either corrupted or lost, and because prophetic lifestyle of those particular prophets has vanished.
This naturally implies that the people who still attempt to follow the way of these prophets today, will never gain true knowledge of Allah, because the way to this knowledge is only via prophetic guidance and lifestyle, as personified by the prophet whom Allah had chosen.
However, as stated earlier, if this prophetic lifestyle has been forgotten, and if the teaching itself is has been lost by having it changed, then it is impossible to follow the original life pattern of the prophet concerned or his original teaching.
Therefore knowledge of Allah, is not possible, by heeding to these distorted and corrupted "teachings". It follows that the only acceptable way to follow today is Islam. Prophet Muhammad is the most well documented Prophet in history, so his teachings are with us. And the Quran today is exactly how it was 1400 years ago.
In "reality, there is only one REALITY, that is Allah. In this life, there are only are two things. Kufr and iman The one who tries to follow the way of a prophet whose teachings have been lost, is somewhere in between these two opposites. They are lost, wandering blindly. Allah tells us that creation was created to worship Him. because our reason for existence is worship of Allah, the body of a person who is "lost" affirms the one reality (Allah), but because he or she is not following a guidance which is still intact, it follows that only some of his or her actions are truly worthwhile . Hence, a lost persons understanding of what he or she is doing, and understanding of Allah, in invariably incomplete and distorted.
The lost include the Christians, who now worship jesus and equal him to Allah. Muslims are the closest people to Jesus (pbuh), and Christians are furthest away from him. In fact, we offer salah exactly the same way prophets do in the Bible - even jesus. When I have time, I will post that. It is very interesting.

Literally, the word Muslim means "one who submits (to God)". Muslim is the participle of the same verb of which Islam is the infinitive. Muslims believe that there is only one God, translated in Arabic as Allah. Muslims believe that Islam existed long before Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) and that the religion had evolved with time from the time of Adam until the time of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) and was completed with the revelation of verse 3 of Surah al-Maeda.
This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.
The Qur'an describes many Biblical prophets and messengers as Muslim: Adam, Noah (Arabic: Nuh), Moses and Jesus and his apostles. The Qur'an states that these men were Muslims because they submitted to God, preached his message and upheld his values. Thus, in chapter 3:52 of the Qur'an, Jesus’ disciples tell Jesus,
"We believe in God; and you be our witness that we submit and obey (wa ashahadu bil-muslimūna).

It is interesting to know that it was the enemies of Jesus (peace be upon him) that used to call him and his followers Christians, and now they call themselves Chrisitans. Christians these days do not follow the commands given to them in their bible, to the extent that muslims follow their bible better than they themselves. I recommend watching Ahmed Deedat for this topic. He doesn't leave Christians with legs to stand on.

Hi Jenny, Ahmed Deedat talks from the bible itself. I understand if you mean that a muslim trying to prove christianity wrong using the Qur'an may fall on deaf ears, but he asks questions like: "where does it say in the bible that God is the father of Jesus?" and he asks logical questions like "doesn't God having a son attribute animal qualities to a divine being?" Have a listen and tell me what you think.

Greetings Jenny. I have been keeping an eye on you for quite some time now and for the most part I’ve decided to not engage with you. You are incredibly confused and lack knowledge not only about Islam but of your own faith also. If you were to show your recent thread, namely “misconceptions about Christianity” to another Christian; you would be branded as a heretic due to your first point alone. However, what you said below is very interesting and it has caused me to lurk out of the shadow and into your realm of tirades: Jenny (03.08.2009)
Muslims follow The Bible? That`s impossible,The Bible is contradictory with Islam in important points, and Muslims don`t follow any of them.
Ask any Muslim why we as human beings were created and the answer would be “to worship God”. We as Muslims believe that we were created for the sole purpose of worshiping the creator as to attain peace with Him. Worshiping God can take many forms, and even giving to charity is regarded as worship by some. However, in the absolute sense I suppose Muslims would regard their 5 times a day practice as worship in its truest sense. It may surprise you to know that when Muslims pray five times a day, the way they pray and why they pray is exactly the same as it is in the Bible. What I am about to present to you now should be a wake up call:
...the faithful come to the mosque and take off their shoes so that they may enter the house of worship in bare feet... "When he came to the Fire, a voice was uttered: O Moses! I am thy Lord, therefore put off thy shoes, for thou art in the sacred valley of Tuwa."-(HOLY QURAN 20:11-12). (And God said to Moses), "Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground."-(EXODUS 3:5, also ACTS 7:33). How many Christians take their shoes off when they go to Church, or worship God like Muslims, and Prophet Mosws (peace be upon him)?
...but before entering the mosque, they make abultion, washing their faces, hands and feet... "O you who belive! When you rise up to prayer, wash your faces and your hands as far as the elbows, and wipe your heads, and wash your feet to the ankles."-(HOLY QURAN 5:7) "And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat; when they went into tent of the conregation they washed as the Lord commanded Moses."-(EXODUS 40:31-32). "Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple..."-(ACTS 21:26). How many Christians wash themselves before going to Church, and do christians have a cleaning ritual like Muslims, prophet Moses and Aaron (peace be upon them)?
...and in the mosque, the faithful face that Great Mosque in Mecca, whether in prayer, or reciting, or seeking the blessings of God in unisom with the faithful from all over the world... "So turn thy face toward the Sacred Mosque, and (O Muslims), wheresoever ye may be, turn your faces toward it."- (HOLY QURAN 2:144). "Now when Daniel...went into his house; and his window being open in his chamber towards Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and thanks before his God, as he did aforetime."-(DANIEL 6:10).
...the house is a place of peace and serenity, without images or idols of worship, and simple, with a carpet on which to stand or sit, and meditate. "God forgiveth not (the sin of) joining other gods with Him;...one who joins other gods with God, hath strayed far, far away (from the Right)."-(HOLY QURAN 4:116). "I am the Lord thy God...Thou shalt have no other gods before Me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them nor serve them."-(THE FIRST COMMANDMENT, EXODUS 20:2-5). Do Christians follow the first commandment? I have seen many Churches and most of them have idols in them, and contain images. They have images of Birds , even though the Bible says NOT TO, and the symbol of the fish is a common Christian symbol even though the Bible FORBIDS IT. Today only in mosques you will never see images or idols, and Muslims follow the first commandment better than the Christians.
...and when the time of prayer is come, the faithful stand and bow before God, and make obeisance to Him, by touching the ground before them with their foreheads... They do blaspheme who say: "God is Christ, the son of Mary." But said Christ:" O Children of Israel! Worship God, my Lord and your Lord."-(HOLY QURAN 5:75). They do blaspheme who say: God is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One God.-(HOLY QURAN 5:76). And, behold, one came and said unto him (Jesus), "Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?" And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but One, that is God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the Commandments.-(MATTHEW 19:16-17).

"O you who believe! Bow down and prostrate yourselves and serve your Lord, and do good that you may prosper."-(HOLY QURAN 22:77). "And he (Jesus) went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed..."-(MATTHEW 26:39). "And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship..."-(JOSHUA 5:14). "And he (Elijah) cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees."-(1 KINGS 18:42). "And they (Moses and Aaron) fell upon their faces..."-(NUMBERS 20:6). "And Abraham fell on his face..."-(GENESIS 17:3). Do christians put their face and forehead onto the ground like Muslims, and all the other prophets including Jesus son of Mary (upon them be peace) and prophet Joshua and Elijah and Moses and Aaron and Abraham (peace be upon tjem all)?
...and invariably, the faithful spreads out his hands to God, asking forgiveness, seeking His blessings, beseeching His protection for mankind... "Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and defend us from the torment of the Fire."-(HOLY QURAN 2:201) "...when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the Lord, he arose from before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven."-(1 KINGS 8:54). And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that Thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that Thou hast sent me.-(JOHN 11:41-42). To conclude, Muslims worship God exactly the same way all the other Prophets worshiped God including prophet Jesus; I have used your own Bible to prove this and this also proves that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was a prophet of God because all prophets of God worship God the same way, and thanks to God Muslims pray how God wants us to worship Him because our message is intact whereas your has been lost. This is why when Jesus (peace be upon him) son of Hazrat Mariam returns he will look at Muslims and will recognise us as true followers of God. How do Christians pray today? Do you think Jesus will recognise you as his followers when you pray? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Nj2JTPjlgk

I also don`t need to engage with you.More because I can see, that you still don`t understand, that Christians are NOT obliged to obey Jewish rules and law,if you cite The Old Book all the time.As to images or paintings, you mean probably Catholics and Orthodox, because Protestants know well, that worshipping material things is forbidden according to The Bible, and we consider it to be idolatry. If you find some painting in Protestant church,be sure that we don`t worship it.As to washing,Christians should not go to church,if they have a dirty body.We pray on our knees, lifting our faces exactly how Jesus did.By the way,do you try to teach me my faith? Muslims base their thinking about Chritianity on Islam, what they have no reasons to do.

What exactely do you mean if you say they became corrupted?
Prophet Muhammadis the most well documented Prophet in history, so his teachings are with us.
The lost include the Christians, who now worship jesusand equal him to Allah.
Muslims are the closest people to Jesus (pbuh), and Christians are furthest away from him. In fact, we offer salah exactly the same way prophets do in the Bible - even jesus.
When I have time, I will post that. Itis very interesting.
The original text of The Bible (Codex Sinaiticus) has been found in 19-th century and it`s even avaliable to read today, and it has been checked out by scientists. The examinations reveals, that there`s no differences between Codex Sinaiticus and The Bible from 19-th century.

What Muslims have with this King James? Going to prove, that The Bible is false,by King James? My advice for you is,to look into Lutheran Bible from 1975.

Sons and daughters of Almighty, Bless Him!
Peace to you brothers and sisters,
Pride is a serious dent in our armor. Pride blinds man from sight. It deafens man to voice.
MAN is incapable of sustaining anything written or spoken. Their pride made them deaf, and their pride made them blind!
Our prophets of Almighty have brought forth to us many beautiful and enlightening teachings. But make no mistake, NO Scripture perfectly translated. It is the combined Divinity of the WORD that is perfect of God!
GOD is GOD! We call Him Almighty! We call Him I Elohim! We call him Allah! We call Him Creator! He is our God! The One Almighty Creator Allah GOD!
His words are His words! Nowhere in Torah, Holy Bible, or Q'raan do any of our forefathers condemn or deny each others dogma, or practice of our Faith!
But we find it IMPOSSIBLE not to!
Pride is OUR dent!
Our prophets were perfect. Clean before Almighty God!
But we must feel compelled to rebuke!
Our division will soon be closed by two!
The first will bring DEATH and Almighty's perfect justice, and the Second will bring Life, eternal and abundant.
Please hold fast to Almighty, I want to embrace you in The Prince's Kingdom!!
Praise and exalt Him above all forever!Amen Amen Amen
