Can natural sugars help create stem cell therapies
Can natural sugars help create stem cell therapies

London, July 23: Scientists are examining whether the body's natural sugars can be utilised for creating stem cell treatments for heart disease and to repair nerve damage.

All cells that make up tissues, like skin, liver, brain and blood, are surrounded of a layer of sugars. These sugars help them know their types and to respond to other cells which surround them and the chemical messages that pass in between.

Catherine Merry, of the School of Materials, who is leading the study, said: "At present, the way in which cells make these sugars is not well understood. From the little we do know, we believe isolated fragments of these sugars could be used to instruct cells to behave in particular ways.

"We also think we might be able to force cells to make one particular type of sugar and not another, thereby influencing the way in which that cell grows and interacts with other cells.

"We also believe our research might suggest how sugars can be used to help embryonic stem cells grow in the lab - or how they can be instructed to become cell types which could be of use in human therapies to treat problems with nerve, heart muscle or blood cells.

"Although the prospect of creating cells from embryonic stem cells for use in humans is still a considerable time away, research such as ours helps move towards this goal."

  Allah disgraces Khomeini

"My Companions are like the stars, whoever among them you use for guidance, you will be rightly guided." -Prophet Mohammad sallallāhu 'alayhi wa ālihī wa sallam

Ayatollah Khomeini of the famous Iranian revulotion insulted the holy Sahabah kiram when he was alive, look at how Allah  disgraces Khomeini. Khomeini was adressing once  some youth in Iran and said the following:

"The Islamic and non-Islamic powers of the world will not admit our power till such time that we establish our hold over Makkah and Madinah because these are the centers and citadels of Islam. Hence our domination over these places Is an essential requirement ... when as a conqueror I will enter Makkah and Madinah, the first thing to be done at that time by me would be to dig out two idols (Abu Bakr and Umar) lying by the side of the Prophet's grave."

- Khomeinism and Islam, page 8 by Abu Rehan Farooqi

This is one of the many insults this khomeini done towards our Sahabah. Now look at  how Allah disgraces Khomeini in this world and in the hearafter he will burn InshAllah.

Below is an excerpt from the urdu newspaper, Jang London Urdu :

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
"Dead body fell in the graveyard; got stamped under the feet of people. The first attempt to burry Khomeini failed when the mourners snatched the body of Imam Khomeini and tore his shroud apart, in a condition of semi-madness. During this entire ill-organized funeral the dead body fell on the earth and got stamped under the feet of people. THE DAILY JUNG LONDON 7 JUNE 1989"

Below is the picture of the dead body of Shaytaan Khomeini after he died. In this pic, he is being carried by the mourners. They tried to grab him and hold on to him and as they were doing it, they snatched/tore off his shroud. Alhamdulillah, he was humiliated.

Another excerpt from the newspaper:

The first attempt to burry Khomeini failed when the mourners snatched the body of Imam Khomeini and tore his shroud apart, in a condition of semi-madness. During this entire ill-organized funeral the dead body fell on the earth and got stamped under the feet of people. See the copy of DAILY JUNG. The semi-naked photograph was published in several international newspapers and magazines including, Times of America, the Republican London etc. and also in the Daily Amroz Lahore 25 December.

Another pic showing him about to get humiliated when the mourners drop his body where he was stomped:

Alhamdulillah, this devil was humiliated in front of millions of people. Remember, this pig is the same person who said about Uthmaan (ra),

"We worship and recognise only that God Whose actions are based on concrete rationalism and Who does not rule against that rationalism.
We do not worship a god who creates a building for Divine worship and justice and then strives to destroy that very building himself by giving authority to rascals like Yazid, Mu'awiyah and Uthman."

The only 'proper' Muslim is a non-political one

www.spirit21.co.uk

Last week Hazel Blears has announced that the government would fund a "Theology board" for Muslims in the UK. In an interview with Radio 4, she said lots of nice - and true - things about Islam: that it is peaceful, that it is a religion of compassion, and then Kaboom! She claimed that this board will allow for a "proper interpretation" of Islam. I felt like I was stuck in the blurry screen waves of a bad 1970's sitcom which was transporting us back to the Middle Ages, to a time when the Government dictated to the public what is and isn't proper in religion. And this was indeed, about as funny as aforementioned sitcom.

The government has stated that it is doing its best to tackle Islamists who are the source of extremism. According to the government, Islamists are all without exception terribly violent and bloodthirsty. Islamists are apparently the cause of the world's problems - earthquakes in China, climate change, food shortages, the fuel crisis and poverty and malnutrition to name but a few. The only good Islamist is an ex-Islamist. The government has then used this premise to go on to define its entire policy about Muslims in the UK around the issue of security, ignoring issues of economics, society, education and deprivation.

The term 'Islamist' was once applied to anyone who used Islam as a political ideology. Muslims who do not have a political ideology of any sort are okay and need not be worried about being infected by Islamism. But the problem is that the term 'Islamism' has now been stretched to mean any Muslim who is political.

Blears insinuates that Muslims who are not politically active are the preferred kind of Muslim. She said in a speech to the Policy Exchange: "The fact remains that most British Muslims, like the wider community, are not politically active, do not sit on committees, and do not attend seminars and meetings. They are working hard, bringing up families, planning their holidays, and going about their business." Jack Straw was also quite clear about this two years ago: you can't be a Muslim woman in niqab and visit your MP to engage in the political process.

So if you are a poor confused brainwashed Muslim who cannot tell the difference between someone who is peddling violence and someone who is rocking their head with Britolerant chanting, then the government is going to help you decide your opinions, don't you worry, poor little Muslim.

The stance of the government takes the handful of criminals who have engaged in violent activity and states that this is a perverted interpretation of Islam, and needs to be exposed as such. Tony Blair said in a discussion with young Muslims "we have to accept that this is therefore a Muslim problem, and a problem with Islam." I reject this utterly.

This is a criminal issue, which needs to be exposed and rejected as such. The criminals are invoking the mantle of Islam as protection. The only way to get rid of them is for everyone together - including Muslims and the government - to isolate those horrible violent activities as outside the philosophy of Islam. There is no need for a 'proper' interpretation of Islam, because these activities are not to do with Islam. Rooting the problem falsely within Islam has created a hostile and prejudiced environment where the criminal activities cannot be properly attacked. The government doesn't like to hear this being said, but this is the only sensible right-minded way forward.

The recent refusal of ministers to attend IslamExpo is a case in point. Irrespective of their opinion of the organisers, it was a chance to engage with forty thousand Muslims who want to create and settle into a comfortable peaceful British Islam. It smacks of an increasing confusion on the part of the government who are now not only failing to engage with Muslims, but are actively disengaging with those Muslims who are working to a positive peaceful agenda. Blears is playing a dangerous and - in my opinion - futile game which can only backfire as it will leave the vast majority of peaceful Muslims feeling resentful at being singled out for undemocratic dictatorship of their religious views, something with which the government has no business.

My government - the one that I dutifully pay my taxes to, the one that I actively engage with through support and through criticism as part of my duties as subject and citizen, the one that I cast my vote for (or against), the one that I have represented abroad on official business, the one that I support through my labour resources and contribution to the economy - this government tells me that I cannot be a Muslim and engage in politics. Government you have failed to understand that it is I, and millions of others who engage in political activity, that have put you into a position of power. And this statement refers not just to the Labour party, but to any party in power, so Conservatives take note too. Your holding of the reins of power is at the behest of those who vote you in.

If our government makes a statement that a Muslim with a 'proper interpretation' of Islam is one that does not engage in political activity then our government does not have a 'proper interpretation' of its role and authority.

I wrote a piece a year ago stating "Five Things I love About Being a British Muslim Woman." In it I emphasised the importance as a Muslim of contributing to the nation that you are part of, and that part of being a contributing member is to be proud of what is good in that nation and to offer positive criticism to make the country a better place.

I continue to be committed to the people of
Britain and to making our country a flourishing, forward-looking nation. In return the government has made a mockery of Muslims like me who want to engage in the political process by the rules of democracy, shared values and freedom of speech that the government claims underpin our shared vision of society. And the government is also making a mockery of the claims of democracy and freedom of speech by illegitimately excluding from political participation those whose opinions the government does not like. The government needs instead to think clearly for itself and avoid pandering to any which old voice which is popular in fear-mongering circles for their actions are undermining both the positive goals of social cohesion as well as the political process.

Blears said that "You can't win political arguments with the leaders of groups... who believe in the destruction of the very democratic process of debate and deliberation". By excluding the Muslim opinions that the government doesn't want to engage with through the devious method of saying that being a political Muslim is unpalatable, it is the government itself who is destroying the democratic process of debate.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Y for Yoghurt
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Y for Yoghurt

You have it as a refreshing drink in summer; you dip your chapatti in its tangy, spicy variant; and you soak your rice in its thinner flavoured form - yes, yoghurt is one of the most popular dairy products, always present on our dining tables during meals.

Yoghurt is a fermented dairy product containing live bacterial cultures that have proven to be beneficial for health. Not only is it rich in calcium, iodine, phosphorous, vitamin B2 or riboflavin and protein, but it is also an integral part of a complete meal in INDIA.

On average, one cup or 245 grams of yoghurt contains 58.1 per cent iodine and around 44 per cent calcium. Anyone wanting to increase their calcium, iodine or protein intake can simply substitute their supplements with a cup or small tub of yoghurt.

But the specialty of yoghurt remains to be the teeming load of healthy bacteria that is present in it. The bacteria abundant in yoghurt help boost a person's immune response and fortify the immune system. One study has also found that lactobacillus casei, a friendly bacteria found in yoghurt can help improve the body's ability to fight pneumonia.

The active cultures found in yoghurt encourage the right kind of bacteria to multiply in the stomach, the antibiotic qualities of which help combat and prevent infections. Yoghurt can also prevent diarrhoea and dysentery because of the high levels of prostaglandins it contains.

The healthy bacteria in yoghurt known as probiotics not only increase cellular immunity but are also said to have a positive effect on metabolism. In its role of bolstering cellular immunity, some researchers have suggested that yoghurt can protect and prevent certain types of cancer.

A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition pointed out that the immuno-stimulatory effects of yoghurt prevent diseases such as cancer, infection, gastrointestinal disorders and asthma. The lactobacillus in yoghurt has also been found to improve respiratory illnesses.

Probiotics found in yoghurt have proven to be particularly helpful in treating gastrointestinal problems like ulcers and inflammatory bowel diseases. Interestingly, probiotics can also help prevent food poisoning. Hence it is always a good idea to devour a healthy cup of yoghurt after you have given in to your temptations and indulged in that not-so-hygienic kebab roll. Yoghurt consumption can also be a means for preventing osteoporosis because of its high calcium content. And it is not just calcium that makes yoghurt bone-friendly. Lectoferrin, an iron building protein present in yoghurt also helps build bones.

Yoghurt has long been used as an important food item to promote health and treat various diseases. A century ago, a Russian microbiologist by the name of Elie Metchnikoff put forward the finding that the consumption of live microbes present in fermented milk products may in part be responsible for the long life of certain ethnic groups.

Yoghurt is an ideal food item for people of all ages. You can have it plain, or mix it with fruits or vegetables or top it with syrups, nuts or herbs. It can be presented and eaten in a myriad of different forms. Have it with lunch or as a dessert. And you can be sure that as you savour its smooth texture and taste, it will work its way through your body improving your health in many ways.

Wishing Your Days Be Filled With
Happiness, Peace And Good Health...

  Hadith of the Day 23.07.08

Once someone asked Jesus (peace be upon him),

"How are you able to walk on water?" Jesus (peace be upon him) replied, "With certainty." Then someone said, "But we also have certainty!" Jesus (peace be upon him) then asked them, "Are stone, clay, and gold equal in your eyes?" They replied, "Certainly not!" Jesus (peace be upon him) responded, "They are in mine."

Terror police detain disabled boy for being mixed race!

Terror police detain disabled boy

By Sally Chidzoy
BBC Home Affairs correspondent

Train going into the Channel Tunnel
The family were stopped by an officer from the Channel Tunnel Policing Unit

A police officer has been transferred from duties at a Channel crossing after a disabled child and his parents were detained under the Terrorism Act.

Julie Maynard, of Ware, Hertfordshire, was taking a day trip to Calais through the Channel Tunnel in Folkestone, Kent.

The detective constable accused Ms Maynard and her husband Leslie Coombs of trafficking her son Joshua, 12.

Kent Police apologised and described the incident as inappropriate, unprofessional and lacking in tact.

The family were stopped by the plain clothes officer from the Channel Tunnel Policing Unit on 20 February.

'Car surrounded'

Ms Maynard, a legal advocate, said the officer, who failed to identify who she was, asked for the family's passports then asked "who's the boy?".

"My son is mixed race and the officer then told us, 'I believe you are child trafficking'," she said.

When Ms Maynard asked the woman officer if she would be asked the same question if her son was white, she said the officer replied: "Are you accusing me of being a racist?"

The family were then detained under the Terrorism Act and surrounded by "at least 10 police officers" who ordered them to get out of their car.

Ms Maynard was separated from her husband and son, who is autistic and has cerebral palsy, and taken to a detention room for questioning, leaving Joshua distressed.

Ms Maynard said the woman officer told her: "It's obvious he [Joshua] has nothing to do with you".

Police apology

She said officers had told the family they had powers to hold them for up to nine hours under Section 7 of the Terrorism Act, but they were released after more than two hours.

Mr Coombs said it was an "unpleasant and frightening experience".

Julie Maynard said: "More and more people are being stopped under the Terrorism Act - there's absolutely nothing in the act to stop individual officers abusing their powers.

"They have a difficult job to do in a difficult climate but their approach needs to be reasonable and not presumptive that every person is somehow guilty of a possible terrorism or criminal offence."

Kent Police have paid a "substantial sum" of money to the welfare fund at Joshua's school, reimbursed the family's ferry fare and offered Joshua a visit to the Kent police marine launch.

Insp Helen Shaw, from Kent Police's Frontier Operations, apologised to the family in a letter.

In another letter she wrote: "Your complaint and my subsequent enquiries allowed me to identify that her (the officer's) manner had been insensitive, lacking in tact and that her conduct overall lacked the professionalism I expect.

"I wish to reassure you that your highly unsatisfactory experience was a very isolated incident."
